Default Quick Q - Oil Pan Replacement - 98 EX Coupe

I need to replace the oil pan on my 1998 Civic EX Coupe MT which has a D16Y8 motor.

There are two 'stiffeners' that connect the manual transmission housing to the bottom of the pan (each has one bolt into the tranny housing and the other two into the pan).

All I'm doing is replacing the pan. I'm assuming it's safe to remove these 'stiffeners' to do the job without any additional support under the tranny or the engine. Is this correct?
