Default Re-sale value and KBB - Hmm...

First off, let me say that I know that KBB.com (kelly blue book) is NEVER right! But the other day I looked up the retail value of it and it was more than what the 07's are going for sticker. Even the re-sale private party was about what I paid.

The only reason I looked was because my sister wrecked her crappy car the other day (yeah shes ok) and our insurance company gave her a check for the KBB price. Are you telling me that if I wrecked my car (or anyone for that matter) I would make out better than when I first bought it? Sounds fishy.

Yes I know that even if I wrecked it that the insurance would go up, blah blah blah but I'm just saying. KBB is out of their miiiinnnnd.

KBB isnt always wrong. My friends 2000 Si coupe in excellent condition with 135k miles on it rated over $10k for resale... and its not uncommon to find one like that for around 9000 under the same or worse physical condition

when I work deals..we pull KBB on all the trade-ins...we use that as a guide to customers just to show them that they're not getting raped..but it's not always right..i've had numbers come in 4k below KBB..then I just toss it....especially with the domestics..the black book is the only real book..and NADA..the 2006 SI's are actually still not even in the black book yet...which is the book that dealers use...my Used Car Manager said that trade in on a 06 SI would probably be like 2k back of invoice...just incase anyone is gonna trade theirs..lol..But retail right now would probably be around what u paid..MSRP wise...if they certify it...so it's not too far off on the retail..
