Auto to Manual . ECU question
i am converting my friend's AT civic to MT. he has got every thing but an ECU. i would like to kno if the car would still start and drive with the AT ECU? What are the problems with doing this ?
I did a AT to MT conversion as well. With me I was using a donor engine that was a MT. I believe that you do need the correct ecu or else the engine will run weird. Also you need to do some wiring to the AT shifter plug. Just do your research, I lost the link to the site I used, sry.
if yur using the manual tranny and the auto ecu. it will thro the code automatic tranny lockup. i just got sent the wrong ecu and it did that, and it will not start. jujst crank and crank.

That is not correct. On obd1 ecus you can run a automatic ecu in a manual vehicle & the car will run & drive but it will throw a code 19.
