ma you need a turbo hatch EG the 1992-1995 ones,10k is a lot of money for a car budget.Dont get a sohc for 10k,get a b18c and tune it right with a nice turbo. But then again you might just have enough for a K series swap

92-95 would be easier, because of less electrocinc crap. Also for 10k you could just get a 99-00 si, which already has a B series. Im 17 and my D series is good enough for me, id probably kill myslef eoth something faster.

i see a screen name of streetracingcivic, 98+type-r motor, and 16 and i just laughed

why hype r? because its jDm y0? waste of 4 grand or more to me.

if i were you id leave the d series in whatever you buy, maybe do some suspension work, some app & cosmo, get through some years of good driving and then once your older up grade hp

i know you want a fast car now, but im going to advise that you dont do that...
buy a beater and pound the **** out of it. once you have some serious time behind the wheel, then you can go buy something bigger and better.

If you have 10k to spend, you're in good shape. Put that **** in the bank and let it grow. You'll find that if you spend it now while your 16 and retarded, you'll completely waste it, and kick yourself in the *** later. Thats what I did

Plenty of swapped hondas on craigslist for well under 10k.
Wait, 16 years old with a budget of 10k?
All I got was an $850 POS 85 ford T bird when I was 16.
Oh well, Start from the bottom...

I have to agree with egjames..
Buy a car, learn to drive it... Move up in performance when you have more experience.. a few things come to mind when i hear some (kid) say they want a fast car....
Most will be dumb enough to wrap it around some object not designed to move, in which case your out 10K possibly in the hospital if your lucky enough to survive.
Or you hit someone else, possibly kill them... then you spend the next 9 years in juvenile detention or remanded to the youth authority until your 25 for Vehicular Manslaughter.
In most states your license is a provisional license.. you will only be able to drive during certain hours.. usually ending at 10pm You wont be able to tote around the hottie you want to take out too. Learn to drive a car.. just because you passed the test dont mean your the best at it. Some people have been driving for years and arent good at it. If you want to race.. find and indoor karting venue and go have fun there. Im not bashing on you.. just maybe some sense will get through and a young driver like yourself will be around a little longer to enjoy life.
Sorry to sound preachy.. but I see news stories everyday.. Kids with fast cars killing the unsuspecting shopper leaving the mall.
This is a true story near where i live.. two kids racing fast cars... one hits a lady and kills her. They both are going to be charged with manslaughter.. I think what disturbed me the most as they were there at the scene.. the one kid was more worried about removing his car stereo than he was about the lady that he took life from.
Ok I am off my soap box...
BTW I like the civic coupes.

one good tip: don't buy cheap generic stuff for your car. spend your money on the good name brand stuff. cuz when you buy the cheap stuff it'll turn into garbage real quick and you'll end up buying the name brand stuff n e ways so you will actually be spending more. trust me i know cuz i was 16 before and i look back w/ my head down.

yeah man... we might sound like old farts talking out the *** and hating... but we were at that age not so long ago... trust us... blowing all that much money on cars at that age is not worth it.. especially when your just 16. Put some more experience under your belt, read up more, just do minor things to your car, because sooner or later... something will happen *knock on wood* but it's true.

x's 2..

im sure you dont know whats up with the thieves out there so you should really spend some good amount on security first...dont blow the 10k on just a car and a type r swap with no security....thats a big no no....Car, then Alarm, then some killswitches, quick release with NRG lock, autolock, then swap...that way you can get some experience behind the wheel before you put a nice powerplant in there..

If i was in your situation, I'd buy a clunker first. Something to learn. Chances are you're going to do a number to your first car. Then once you get a steady flow of money and some driving experience under your belt then buy a project car.

Having a DD comes in handy when doing work that puts the vehicle down for a couple of days, and is quite the luxary.

Don't blow all of your money on your car. Save some. Get a job before you start building. That way you can replenish your funds as you build. It would be a wise decision to have a plot of money aside for any unexpected repairs.

And i say all of this with complete optomism--not even paying attention to your screen name.

I think he's pullin our legs.

But if he's serious, but a stock civic for 8 g's. Put the rest in the bank. Drive the stock EX/si civic until yuo graduate. then Mod it.

That's what I did/doing.

I'm 18, and I can tell you, I didn't need a SLOW civic at 16, my stock d16 hatch (0-60 in 8.3 seconds) Got me $1500 in tickets in 3 days.

Yeah, I learned the hard way. Speeding/street racing is dangerous, and expensive

Since the invention of the Cell phone, street racing/speeding has never been the same.

What do you think happens when you're doing twice the speed limit in a loud rice burner past some soccer mom toting 6 kids?

She's thinking you could've killed all of them, and calls the police, "Hi a white civic was just doing 100mph down my road heading eastbound."

Find a cool hobby like I did and enjoy that. Wearing Knight's armor and beating the **** outta people with sticks is what I do.
