and this big jerk happens, now the car wont rev high and its making this odd bubbling sound... i can still drive it although i have to take it very easy. check engine light is on went on as soon as it jerked. when i rev high it jerks like a governer is comming on, only more severe.

check distributor

 

take the cap off the distributor and see if there is any metal shavings or anything on the magnets, if so more than the bearing in the distributor blew out. Its kind of common and it happend to me.

but the bubbling sound it kinda of strange

 

Jumped timing belt?
