How many of you guys cover your VIN number?
I was wondering, How many of you guys actually cover up your R's VIN number?
I heard somewhere that it is relatively easy to get a key from the dealer if you know the cars VIN number and you say it is for your car. I'm guessing that they should ask you for some kind of a proof that it is actually from your own car, BUT who knows how they do it?
Do you guys think that's true?
Someone actually left me a note under my wipers saying "cover up that VIN number, CW ITR owner"

doesnt really matter and is against the law to cover the vin# located on the dash. (just keep some business cards over it instead)
besides you can get vin#'s just by doing a search on someones license plates...

I actually know who it is. It's a guy that parks his ITR next to mine at my school. Never saw him though, just his CW ITR

I'm wondering if caps can give you a ticket for that?..... I was actually thinking of putting my city sticker over it (it is one of those that you can remove easily)

Mine is covered up with a card saying "Nice Try." The VIN on my inspection sticker is on the inside, and that is covered with removable tape in case I get pulled over (I have had cops check to make sure the VIN matches on the sticker in the past).
Also, for added security, I would not recommend using the photoshop pixelating feature to blur your plates. Use one of the other lburring techniques. The algorithm used to pixelate has been cracked, and thieves are now able to unblur images to recover digits and letters for credit cards, checks, plates, etc. Best bet is to use a solid colored shape or one of the other blurring techniques.
