HELP!! there is a tap stuck in my head
Im trying to replace my LMAs and tap a hole where I broke off a bolt in my head on my b16 and when I was tapping the hole out the tap broke off in my head and is going through to where the rocker shaft goes, now I cant get the shaft back in and I cant get the tap off. In the picture below its circled where it is and its broken off below the surface and extends out the bottom. How the hell can I get it out? I already tried drilling it. That didnt work. Please someone help me fix this.
drilling is incredibly risky, since the metal the tap is made out of is much, much stronger than the aluminum head.
they make broken tap removers, but you won't be able to find them in local hardware stores. walton makes a good set:

if that doesn't work, the only alternative is EDM, electronic discharge machining i think... basically they break up the tap with large amounts of voltage. you'll have to remove the head and take it to a machine shop that has an EDM machine.

true, but taps are so freaking hard to pierce through to use an easy out. they are really strong. but it is worth a shot. try usind a diamond bit of a dremel to see if you can make a hole in it. >=/

my dremel has not got here yet, im waiting on it to come from the states (im stationed in germany). I got the car in my garage on jack stands doing winter revamping so Its not going anywhere, and Im not going to need to drive it anytime soon. As soon as my dremel gets here Im going to give that a try. Until then, any other things I could try??
