ECM QUESTION 88 PRELUDE
I JUST PICKED UP AN 88 THAT SOMEONE PULLED THE AUTO OUT OF AND DROPPED IN THE STD. TRANS. FROM THE WAY THE WIRING LOOKS; I DOUBT THEY WERE VERY THOROUGH. MY QUESTION IS: DOES THE ECM NEED TO BE SWAPPED OUT IF IT HASNT BEEN ALREADY. THE CAR WONT RESTART FOR 20 MINUTES IF YOU SHUT IT DOWN HOT AND IT SMELLS RICH. THE OIL LIGHT FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON, THE HEAT DOESNT WORK, THE SEAT BELT ALARM WONT SHUT OFF AND THE EXAUST LEAKS. LOL!!! THE BODY IS CLEAN AND THE ENGINE STRONG ON JUST 110000MILES FOR $600 IM NEW TO THE POST ALTHOUGH IVE HAD MY 89 SI 4WS FOR 3YRS. NOW. I PICKED UP THE 88 FOR SITS AND GIGGLES FOR MY GIRLFRIEND. HOPE WE CAN EVENTUALLY EXERCISE ALL THE GREMLINS!! JUST HAPPY TO START OUT KNOWING IF I NEED TO SEE IF IT HAS THE CORRECT ECM. AND WHAT # THAT WOULD BE FOR AN 88 2.0SI STD. TRANS. THANKS!!
