CRX + D15 = 11's???
its probably not possible. and even so, why would you want to? is it because of that guy on the idrc tour? good lord, just go b-series and keep ur car street legal.
i mean it would cost so much damn money to do this it really wouldn't be worth it when you can save yourself some major cash and start off with a higher horsepower motor.

Building up a D15/D16 is not for everyone. Alot of people knock it down because its not the "easiest" way to make power. You can just buy a B series and theres so much parts for it, you dont even have to think on what to get.. all you need is money and everything is there for you to run 12's easily with a B motor.
The D series, takes more time and patience. IT doesnt necesarrily cost more to make it fast compared to a B series motor. Its just not common and you are on your own on this one in designing a good motor.
I have been a fan of D series motors for a long time and I still build B series for customers and friends. ITs just so easy to put together parts for like a B16/B18. Right now, Bisi is hitting 10.9's allmotor with his D15. We are in the planning stages of my own SOHC on building the Fuel injected version of Bisi's 10 sec motor. He has been pushing me for years to go all out and build up my SOHC. Now my chief mech. and the rest of the crew are taking on task to be the 1st fuel injected D series in the 10's.
Like I said, its not for everyone and you can flame all you want on how much its going to cost. All I can say is the project wont even cost more than most peoples Turbo build up or allmotor setups here on this board.

Oh and we're not building this to try to be the best out there. The allmotor class is already deep in the mid 10s. Its just a personal goal of mine. and to be different.

i'm not hating it really i'm just saying that to me it doesn't seem logical. Plus if he is gonna have a shop do all his work it will be more expensive than you yourself doing it
BISI = 10 sec...1.5 sohc non vtec 2nd gen CRX. anything is possible.
ridicoulously stripped?
i didnt know this was about street legal setups.
sorry
oh he was planning to go DOHC?
he tell you that?

it would be cool but i'm just asking how you can do that for only 5k
plus this is probably you doing the work, but who is to say this kid won't take it somewhere. I believe that if he takes it somewhere then it would be more than 5k

and even still the motor will never be as reliable are as easy to run as a b series. not to mention the fact that the motor is being pushed to its absolute limits and that it will only truley be fast in a car that wieghs NOTHING.
carbs $500 twm manifold $300
Fuel system $200
Built block $2000
Head work with cam, cam gear, etc $1600
clutch $300.00
These are regular prices, if you have hookups, its even cheaper.
Remember a carbed setup is real cheap.
Why Be different? because liek you.. who picked a B motor. you're just another fish in a big sea. you wont stand out. and you'll just blend in with all the other B series.
I dont know man, its just preference and the fact that you acutally have to learn about the D motor. WIth the B series, its all given.. too easy. TO me 90% of the fun is learning to build the motor.

yes but what about the labor for all that? and the tuning involved and dyno days and all for that. maybe building the motor for 5k i can see now but making sure it runs right goes over 5k
