i have an 02 civic auto. tranny that is chattering at 1800rpm. it sounds like a strut is bottomming out. it does not do this at any other rpms. the sound comes about during a slight uphill grade. If you can mainntain 1800, the sound will remain, but the second you go over it dissappers. any thoughts?

 

auto trannys in civics suck *****. have you tried flushing it yet and putting new fluid in?

 

The tranny has nothing to do with the struts. It may be that the tranny has had its time and needs to be rebuilt. I can't really help that much with autos, I drive a manual.
