Engine revving up and down from a cold start.
1997 Honda Accord DX, 5 speed, non-vtec.
SO for several years I've had the problem where I start my car up cold and it idles up and down for about 2 minutes on it's own, then levels off. Well, this past week, the CEL came on and I pulled a code P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction. I don't know if what I mentioned is anything related to this or not, maybe you lot can help?
I've searched around the internet and I've seen that some mostly say it's a clogged IAC valve, and you can clean it. Others say a vacuum leak. My question is, when the CEL comes on for this, what "typically" is the cause of the problem and what is the solution? I figured you lads might know. Thanks!

Look for vacuum leaks & fix em.
Make sure you remove ALL air from cooling system.
IAC valve - clean it.
FIT valve - clean it; maybe remove cover see if its guts are loose.

On the FIT, are you talking about that think that has two slots on it for tightening?

It's #14, I think you take off the round cover on the end & there's something inside that can work loose.

Look around here for a procedure with photos. I haven't had to do this one myself, that's why I'm kinda vague.

Well you little ThreadJacker. LOL
If my old memory is correct that is a bracket that has a wire harness clip going into it from under the IAC.
