Think I found a good deal on an S2000...
... and I would like some opinions. I was in my local Honda dealer today and saw a 2000 S2000 with a hard top. They want $15,900 with ~69k miles and a 1 year warranty. It has a bunch of scratches on the bumper, but the salesman told me they would paint it once its sold. The hard top also had a few scratches and dents in it, guess the previous owner just threw it in the garage somewhere. Oh and it has HIDs!
Well thats enough about the car, I would like to know from people with experience if this is a good deal and some things that I should look out for when I go back to check it out again. Any positive answers are greatly appreciated, Thanks!

yea they said they would paint the bumper, and i could always get a lip and they also said they would their dent guy check the roof.
Besides that and thing else that may go wrong that I should look out for on the early 2000 model?

well the plastic window on the softtop is the worst thing so check it out if u plan on ever using it. make sure it shifts normal and everything else, and remember, if the outside looks like poo, everything else could have been taken care of the same way,....engine oil never changed or checked for that matter etc......and s2ks need the oil checked at every fill up

not true.
not true.
i paid $1000 more and got a 2000 s2k /w 45k miles and hardtop not one single ding or noticeable scratch. great maintenance history as well.
i dont think your deal is that great when you add in all the other tax + fees. if you can get them to fix the scratches (not just touch up - but completely respray) and the hardtop dents it'd be worth it possibly.. the mileage is kinda high at 70k

Also, tell the dealer that you'll put a deposit down on the car and will buy it when they fix all the scratches that they said they would. I dont know if I'd trust it though. I'm REALLY REALLY SUPER picky about cars. If it wasnt taken care of on the outside, how do you know how it was driven? 69k is a lot of miles. Dealers never hold up their end of a promise. I was missing an antenna when i bought my car. They wrote me a freakin "we owe" note and it STILL took them about 4 months to get an antenna to me. I had to call them and hound them every day! Make sure you get everything you want before you drive it away. Once you drive it away, it seems like they wash their hands of it.
I just bought mine this month. 2000 Silverstone with 80k miles
No body flaws whatsoever, no hardtop.
New tires and brakes. 12k.... with 1 year warrenty and taxes and tags it was 13.2k

s2k's are selling below blue book, even at dealers so you can just throw that lil book away
Its currently a buyers market since there are sooo many s2k's for sale

just got back from the dealer, they said they would fix the paint but the price wont budge. Ill call back in a few weeks to see how many other people made offers on an S in the middle of January.
if they wont budge on the price, tell them you'll take it at their price OUT THE DOOR. no hidden fee's or anything. and wait. i doubt anybody wants one in january like you said. good luck.
