Default 94 accord knocking sound

I have a knocking sound coming from the motor It happens whether or not the engines under load or in nuetral the sound is heard under any rpm but gets pretty decently loud at right around 3,000 rpm it is a consistent sound it feels like its coming from the top of the motor

We pull the vavle cover off and did a visual inspection and nothing looks out of place what could it be

check valve adjustment, as well as pre ignition. does the engine have high km's? if theres alot of carbon build up, you could be having a lil bit of detonation.

grab a piece of hose to use as a stethoscope, might help to track down the sound a little better. Knocking as in the knocking of knuckles on a door , or tapping like some one tapping a fingernail on a counter?
if it's a 'heavier' sound it is usually in the bottom end.
Rod knock is usually more pronounced when going on and off the throttle.

the valve train is clean except for the oil stains no carbon build up

If you're sound is like mine, it's just a valve ticking. Mine does it barely when I'm on the accel a little bit but more pronouned when I press it down more. Mine is more of a tapping that HondaDude said.
Chances are if you hear when inside the car I dont think it would be the fuel injector, but those can tap also.
A solution is usually a valve adjustment.
Does your car burn any oil?
Also is it more pronounced in the cold but not as bad when it's 60 or 70 out?

On initial start up, its really quiet, but when the motor is getting to operating temperature the sound is pronounced and gets a ton louder, The Higher the engine speed the louder and more pronounced the tapping gets, it IS a temperature related tapping, but its also based off engine RPM.

mine knocks also (94 accord), been doing it for 2 years since i bought the car. I get knocks @ 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm but stops after that, so i'm stumped myself. I've got the feeler gauge to do the valve adjustment, just havent gotten around to doing it, anyway if you do the valve adjustment be sure to keep us posted (if you like)
