Hey all ...so I've had my new (used) 2001 S2000 for about 4 months now and I I just found this past weekend when I was taking a look at the plugs that one of them has oil all over the threads and is pretty fouled. The other scary thing I found was that the plugs were Bosch ...and that definately isn't spec for my little rice rocket. My question is what do you think the problem is? Based on stuff I've read I figure I should start with changing all the seals (valve cover gasket kit and spark plug seals) and the pcv valve, but from there I don't know. The car is performing well (well not boggy or suffering from lack of spunk) which gives me hope that the seals will fix it and that its not a fubar'd piston. Any thoughts?

Finally, this will be a first for me changing a valve cover gasket and spark plug seals so can anyone point me to any good how tos on here or give me any advice on the process. I'm going to be doing the job with my buddy who has done a few engine swaps but I would like to have a clue what I'm doing before we do it too before he comes into town.

Valve cover gasket set is about $20 from your dealer. It's pretty simple to do. Come back if you need exact procedures.

 

like Dang said.. change the gaskets, id change out the plugs as well...

Yeah I bought new NGKs to throw in it ...I figured I'd wait until I did the seals to replace them. No point in fouling up $10 a pop platinum plugs.

 

honestly what i would do spark plug gasket seals off the VC and the plugs and see what happens then... i doubt your PVC needs changin

They're pretty easy, you should do them at the same time as the valve cover gasket.

 

Thanks for the help guys ...I'm gonna try to change out the VC gasket and SP seals this weekend ...as long as my autoparts store can get them in time. Should I have a brand preference when I order them or are all gaskets and seals pretty much the same? I plan on callin Advanced auto tonight.
