ls/vtec nitrous set up questions
well i would like to go from having my 1.6 b16 nitrous and go 1.8 ls/vtec nitrous. i have a zex dry kit and plan on running a 75 or 100 shot. i was wondering what you guys thought would be a good setup? i heard when you do ls/vtec with a b16 head you have to get shorter custom rods and custom pistons. is this true? if not would it be ok if i got a stock ls crank got it micropolished, acl bearings,ls block with a new hone and stock ls pistons and rings, new stock ls oil pump, water pump, crank pulley,b16 tranny,b16 head, type r cams, type r dual valve springs, ported head, blox IM,dc 4:1, and 2 1/2" exaust.also the conversion kit with the dowls and line for ls/vtec or b20
i would just keep it safe and go with the ls/vtec and 75 shot of nos and you only need other pistons when you are planning on boostings some psi but your cool... but i still think that 100 shot of nos in an ls/vtec is way to much. i mean those rods were not made for vtec heads and now you want to squeeze. i mean you cant but it will only last you for a couple of passes maybe 10-15 passes. i tell you because i got experience my friend had an ls/vtec setup and squeezing 120 shot of nitrous and next day it wouldnt start...give you something to thing about bro....
ok well i read some info and i think i know what im gonna do. i read to get the crank balanced, polished and knife edged so im gonna do that. Im gonna run the stock ls rods shot peend with apr rod bolts with p30 oem pistons. i heard you have to shave off a slight amount on the small end of the rod to fit the p30's i guess i will have that done also, oem rings, cometic head gasket with arp head studs, golden eagle ls vtec conversion kit,b16 head,75 shot dry zex. any comments about this set up are fine

most of what you said is completely false. maybe the fact that your friend was spraying a 120 shot led to problems. was the engine built? was it tuned?

p30's fit on stock rods with no modifications. only type r pistons require the rod shaving.
tuning is the most important aspect of running nitrous safely. you can run a 50 shot and blow your motor because it wasnt tuned.

wut about running the stock ls crank so i can be a 1.8? what machine work needs to be done and how high can i rev ls crank?

Only need other pistons when you're planning on "boostings" huh?
I've come to the conclusion that '07 members are dumber than '06 members.
Note to the new '07 members... Search ************, do you see it?

Honda rods are shot peened from the factory. P30 pistons require no modifications. Spend money balancing that rotating assembly, and if you still feel a need to modify your counterweights, have them bullet nosed.
NO DRY KIT. They're rubbish. You want fuel solenoids along with the nitrous solenoids. Take it to a tuner before you spray. Search. Learn.
