Noise around tight corners.
Civic hatch 91
b16 tranny with lsd
sir axles, 91 integra intermediate
sir knuckles
H&R race drop
Been driving the car for about 6 months now. i built everything myself. Not to many probs, ive had the tranny out twice to fix two different bearing. ive driven it for 3 months since ive had the tranny apart and drive it everyday
i am running honda mtf with no lsd additive.
When i go around tight corners the car makes noise (clunking weather under acceleration or just rolling in neutral)
The noise can be hear probobally every 1/10 th revolution or more of the wheel.
i doubted it to be the axle but i changed one of them. Brand new axle was in it before. i changed the pass side.
still have the noise.
so then i took it out and drove it and did figure 's for a while and the noise got better.
The noise comes back however.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS HAPPENING??
-the other axle and or intermediate have something to do with this?
the lsd has something wrong with it? i am still driving the car and would like to fix it before something very bad happens.
I dont see anything wrong witht he axles. The intermediate was used. i dont see how it could be this n e ways.
ALSO the car has always had a noticeable vibration when accelerating. some times worse then others. i have the hasport motor mounts (3 mounts) is this normal or is it linked with my current problem do you think?
sorry this is so long and thank you.

Well since you had the transmission apart what kind of lsd was it , what transmission model is it, cable-hydro? is it a type r helical diff, or is it an older viscous diff or is it an aftermarket plate diff, some lsd do make awful clunking, feels like a bent or broken axle and can actually feel in sharp low speed turning situations, does it only do it at like parking lot speeds when turning sharply if so its just the diff and there is nothing to worry about. if you do have a plate type diff you need to get rid of that MTF and put some 75-90 gear oil made for lsd's in
Well i stated in the post that i think it could be the lsd.
i have no lsd additive in there.
i could always hear the lsd when i go around tight corners like a lol roaring..idk how to describe it but i always thought that was normal.
now it seems like the thing is sticking....i think it is a clutch style lsd there where no stampings on the lsd and i did not put it in it came with the tranny.??

OK i will try that. That seems like a high visc.
The clunking is only at parking lot speeds. it seems like something gunna snap sometimes.
It has never done this previously. It was good for 6 months. then the past 5 days its been doing the clunking.
I could not tell what type of lsd was in it when i had it apart nore could i i find a stamping?? but i wasnt really looking at that when i had the tranny apart. but it looked like a plate type.
i know that it has always growled around tight low speed corners. this didnot concern me.

you can use gear oil. make sure the bottle says for lsd use. All the plate type diff companies use that heavy gear oil in the honda transmission without any problems. Also you can check the condition of your lsd by jacking up one front wheel and leaving the other front wheel on the ground. Use a torque wrench on the big center axle nut and turn it up to like say 80lbs. when the torque wrench reaches its target torque(80lbs) it will click. if your wheel starts to turn before it clicks your lsd has worn and is putting out less than 80 lbs, keep decreasing the # till it clicks to see what the diff is at, if it clicks at 80 it should be pretty good. if its less it might need to be shimmed.

i do not see any place that the tire is rubbing. i did just change over to my snow tires that are a lil bigger in diameter a couple weeks before and thought this was the problem but it is not.
i did check for slop in the pass wheel when i had it lifted. but i did not in the drivers. i will do that.
