94 Accord EX, bone stock
This problem started recently and is intermittent. I noticed that it happens when I'm driving in traffic but once I get to my destination, turn off the car for 30 mins or so, the problem goes away...until I'm in stop and go traffic again.
What happens is that when I'm driving and I press the brake, the stereo turn off. Even a slight tap on the brake will turn the radio off. At night, I noticed my headlights will dim a bit along with the radio turning off.
Then after about 15 min's of this, the ABS light will turn on. Still car runs fine and braking is fine.
Then after about 5 mins with the ABS light on, a relay near the passenger side glove box area will start clicking. Sounds like I have my blinkers on...click, click, click, click, click, click, click.....it's annoying as hell.
Then if I brake kinda hard or come to a firm stop, the clicking will go away.
Turn off my car, chill for a few minutes, and everything is okay again.
So yup....any guesses to what might be the issue?
Ahhh...maybe it's time for a new car

I think you have more that one problem. I also think the ticking is coming from the abs pump and not the relay(thats where mine is coming from) If its just a relay...replace it.
it sounds like a electric problem caused by heat. a resistor or something shorts. because your brake switch closed (on) when depressed. is your deck stock or after market?

The ticking is def not coming from the pump, the pump is on the drivers side near the headlight. The sound seems to be coming from the glove box area, but I havent pinpointed it exactly.

It's a aftermarket deck. Works fine most of the time. Seems that when this problem comes on (when pressing the brake) it's cutting out my electrical componants.

I'm experiencing the same exact problem. Its only happened 3 or 4 times in the past 2 months, but I have the same symptoms. I'll be braking, and then all of a sudden, it seems like something is shorting out at a constant rate. The revs drop then go back, the radio "ticks" on and off, there is a ticking sound from the glove compartment area as well.
I just turn it off, and turn it back on and its fine.
I also have an aftermarket deck, but i've had one for 6 years now.

sounds like a loose ground. when you step on the brakes hard, it makes contact, thats why it may go away, I would take the glove box out and check all the grounds and relays. Weird problem though....

Yes, it's a very weird problem.
My only clue is that my ABS light was coming on ever since it's been getting cold. So usually at night when it's 35-40 degrees out, the ABS light will come on. However, lately it hasnt been doing it.
I'm about ready to rip out the damn ABS system.

My 96 coupe started doing the same exact thing yesterday and today. I did not notice if braking had anything to do with it. It definately seems electrical. My ABS light comes on and the radio shuts off. The the clicking under the dash starts. it seems like it is killing the gauges as well. it stops eventually but never noticed why. The first time it started doing it, when I stopped and turned the car off, I immediately tried to start it again and got nothing. 5-10 minutes later it started right up. Weird!? It has been bitterly cold here for the last 2 weeks (0-20 degrees)! Anybody figure out what it is?
