Default Prelude Type S vs Accord Euro-R

Ok why is in the Euro-R it has the single stage intake manifold then to in the Type S it has the Dual stage intake manifold. which one is better? and why do they have different manifold when it's the same motor?

no, actually, they don't, the Type S still have secondaries, they are just larger, and the intake manifold still has an upper and lower, but are ported bigger

The single stage has better top end flow, the Euro-R/Type-R tranny has a shorter 2nd and 3rd gear likely to counter this and get into the high rpm range sooner.

oh yeah, they ARE NOT the same motor, similar, but not the same.... why does a GSR have secondaries and the ITR doesn't, they are similar motors right.... if you know the answer to that question, then most likely the answer will be the same for each

ACTUALLY, the GSR and the Type-R are NOT simmilar motors. There are more similarites between the Type-R and the B16 then the GSR.

dude... that was pretty much my entire point, that the H22 and the F20 aren't alike

and i hope you are refering to the top end alone speaking of the ITR to the GSR, b/c the bottom ends are almost indetical

Are you serious!!! The Euro-R tranny has shorter gearing than a Prelude? Damn, that is pretty freakin short, seeing how the Prelude trannies are damn short to begin with.

THe Euro-r and Type-R motors are not F20Bs....that's the SIR-T motor.

The ATR is an H22A7 and Euro-R is H22A but they are the similar engines, both have the single stage manifold. basically Honda just got creative and tried something different.

Hmmn interesting. So would the ATR's tranny bolt on to the h22 engine though. And do they come factory LSD?? Would be interesting to have a good second and third gear finally although it still doesnt compare to the Integra's final drive ratios..

the f20b is the true LSD from the sir. the best tranny you can get! the type s is
ATS... wich sucks because the lsd is controlled by the ecu.
the best set up you could have would be like a type s long block w/ a f20 tranny
and the euro r manafold . for all motor. havent seen any one do it yet.........
but i'm sure the result would be awsome.

BTW has any one got the skunk 2 intake manafold for their h series yet???

You obivously dont know very much. The bottom end of the GSR and the Type-R have NO similarites. The crank of the Type-R weighs 2 pounds more. The pistons and rods are completly different. Next time do your reasearch!

no my friend, they ARE similar in design, the parts may vary in construction, but the design is simialr..... i've taken apart and rebuilt both

You need to check your research. The F20B tranny is not the best tranny you can get. It has the same ratios as a 5th gen prelude except the stock honda helical LSD that goes with it. The ATR/Euro-R tranny has excellent ratios as well as a Honda LSD and is the 'best' tranny you can get.

I'm having one sent to me this week, here's what it looks like:

i am currently in germany and i have read from several places that the engine in the type r accord and prelude are ALMOST alike. however, there are a few differances. the most notable of them being the type r tranny is better then a preludes trans. im actually on the hunt for one now. i thought the lude tranny was good, but i guess there is always room for improvement.

You'd have better luck in the UK, that's where mine is coming from.

alot of what im reading on this thread is true, but alot of what im hearing is wrong.. I actually have a 2001 accord euro R engine im runnng in my car right now. i love it. its very fast. i have actually ran the F20b also. that also ran good. i used a h22a bottom end f20b top end euro R intake manifold and f20b lsd tranny. it ran strong. whoever said the f20b tranny is the shortest is wrong it felt like a good prelude tranny. hoever the euro R tranny is very short. i tried using the same slicks i ran the f20b with and i was going into 5th gear and was just spinning too much. i went to larger 24.5 slicks and its simply a rocket now. i have 3 euro R motors right now there all 2001 models. and im using them in all 3 of my hondas. i already have one in a civic eg. so i have one left over i might be willing to sell for the right price.tye s and euro is not the same. the tranny on a type s sucks donkey *****, all it has is ats lsd or whatever. it doesnt even have the shorter gearing as the euro. and the intake is still dual stage. the euro makes more tq and at a higher rpm then the type s also. waay more. you can feel it. i have done a type s swap before and there ok motors but not anywhere close to a euro R.

so if anyone wants a euro R motor let me know im the only one who has got them here in the us and used them. thanks

Okay as a defender of good and just I have to say where are your number to back up your claims. Sure the Type S puts out 220ps and may have a lack luster tranny but to say that the ATR has more torque and pulls harder without any charts is just blowing smoke...

Now back to the information. From what I am hearing the ultimate stock tranny that you can get so far is the ATR one as far as performance is concerned. However can this be bolted onto the existing h22a's?? That is my only question.. And does it come with factory LSD in any trim?

Thank you for confirming what I said.

Cliff's notes:

F20B tranny: 5th gen plain old ratios, just with LSD
Euro-R/Type-R tranny: very nice short ratios as I listed

Reasoning: shorter gears because the Euro-R makes more power and torque in the top end with the single stage manifold and header design so the gearing gets it up there.

No buddy, he knows what he is talking about the euro-r info states the same hp but it's a fact the different design produces more high end power. And when you're racing from 6000-8000 rpms that is more pull.

There is only one trim for the Euro-R or ATR so the tranny comes with LSD in all options. It is by far the best stock tranny. It bolts right on. Look at the pics of mine above, it's exactly the same as a regular h22a tranny in design.

Satan dont get me wrong I wasnt doubting I have just never seen a dyno plot of a base ATR for comparison.. And here is some more info I found on the subject just for reference.. It difference a little from the infromation you posted above..

And yes from this description I can see that the ATR puts out a monsterous 163ft of torque @ 6.7k.. Very impressive indeed. Anyone know what stock CR they come with.

Engine and Transmission:
Configuration: Inline-4
Valvetrain: DOHC
Displacement 131.6 CU / 2156 CC
Power: 220.1 BHP / 164.1 KW @ 7200 RPM
Torque: 163.0 FT LBS / 221 NM @ 6700 RPM
Compression Ratio: Not Avaliable
Redline: Not Avaliable
Stroke: 3.57 IN / 90.7 MM
Bore: 3.43 IN / 87 MM
Gear Type: 5-Speed Manual
1st Gear Ratio: 3.285:1
2nd Gear Ratio: 3.285:1
3rd Gear Ratio: 1.481:1
4th Gear Ratio: 1.071:1
5th Gear Ratio: 0.812:1

4th Gear Ratio: 1.071:1
5th Gear Ratio: 0.812:1
and remember type-s is 220ps = 217hp...

Those gear ratios are wrong, to a point I posted the ATR ones above those look like messed up Euro-r. For comparison

5th gen - F20Bsirt - 4th gen - Euro-R - ATR

3.285 - 3.285 - 3.307 - 3.285 - 3.285
1.956 - 1.956 - 1.950 - 2.090 - 2.090
1.344 - 1.344 - 1.360 - 1.481 - 1.481
1.034 - 1.034 - 1.071 - 1.071 - 1.071
0.787 - 0.787 - 0.870 - 0.812 - 0.870
4.266 - 4.266 - 4.266 - 4.266 - 4.266
none/atts LSD - optional - LSD - LSD

Type-s has a 0.812 5th as well

I figured it was wrong since it listed the same thing for 1st and second gear. But hey its free information on the internet.. Thanks for the updated info. I will stick with my S-type though since I already have it and the ATR would probably cost and arm and a leg..

How much you paid for the tranny though, btw? IM me if you dont want it be public information.
