Mugen SI sedan
Well your comparing two completely different vehicles. This all depends on if you would rather have a sedan or coupe, k series or b series, i-vtec or vtec, old or new, know what I mean?
I'd say go for the mugen civic if you can even get your hands on one being that only 500 will be made.

You're right they are two totally different vehicles, but i would say 30K is way too much for the Mugen sedan. That's more than the ITR was brand new and even a used ITR will most likely outperform the new Mugen. I say get the used Type R provided the miles aren't run up too much.

When they tested that "Type R" version of the sedan that spoon made, against the S2000 and a dc2 type r the Fa out performed both on the track. In reality the mugen sedan probably will not be that far off from that spoon "type r".

I dont think anyone here realizes exactly how small 500 cars in the entire united states really is.
Considering the type R was a few thousand in 2 colors! each year.. and look how scarce finding a good one now is.
If i purchased the mugen si.... it would definitely NOT be used.
( albeit its only a civic )
but 1 of 500 = EXTREMELY low distribution.

I would love to own one to be one of the few who actually have one but it would have to be a garage queen because you know if you drive it around and park it anywhere unattended you are bound to be tracked and it will be stolen. I had a friend who was followed from a public location to his home and jumped for his car, thieves will do some crazy **** for a damn car.

Never said they were the same. I said they would be similar. The susepnsion upgrade and exhaust is a nice touch to the car. Yeah the spoon had 23 more hp. Small detail in all reality.
It'd be different if i was claiming they were the same car, but I merely said "In reality the mugen sedan probably will not be that far off from that spoon "type r"." Which I still think.

Coming from a Type-R owner, get the SI if you are going to use the car for daily driving. There are too many theifs in the Seattle/Tacoma area that would love to get their hands on some R parts.
I would definately rock the Mugen Si, however finding one that isn't spoken for will be a hard task!

If i happen to get my hands on one, it will see limited miles and probably end up being a garage queen like my 99SI. I will also try to find a Type R for my collection.

You people read too much into things.....you're acting like I was calling you out or something....I was merely stating a fact. There's no guarantee the Mugen Sedan and the CTR sedan are similar. Afterall, we're not just comparing two seperate companies, but we're also comparing two completely different setups. One is for a general market based on the ideas of AHM and the other is an independent tuner building a car strictly for track use. I can practically guarantee the spring rates of the latter are allowed to be more aggressive, because unlike the Mugen Si, there's no real need for "comfort tuning". So while it's possible these cars may "not be that far off" from each other, these are vehicles with vastly different goals, the only real similarities being they're produced by Japanese Honda tuners.

Everything you just said is fine and I totally agree with you. I also think the rates on the suspension for spoon will be more aggressive. All i claimed was that the two cars would be similar. The goals maybe totally different, but I never said they were the same.
So still like I said before, comparing the two different cars, I do not think the mugen si will be that far off from the other.

I have to agree with him with one stipulation. EVOs and STis are both built on plebian econoboxes but are so drastically changed as to not perform in the same realm as their base platform. If the Mugen Honda offered a larger performance boost (~280hp, AWD, etc) it may be worth the price increase, but without that I don't think it warrants $30,000.

The new civic is 200hp, LSD, Mugen Wheels, one of 500 i dont see how it would be retarded.

Noone buys The civic for it to be a rocket.
They buy it for the reliability, decent pick up and history.
If you were to buy a sedan si, pick up ALL the mugen parts that come on the new one and install them.. you'd still be hovering around that price range..
Some people dont need 300hp or awd.
When i got my TSX i could have went and picked up an STI or EVO
but i opted for the 200hp tsx with voice controlled navi, fit and finish and in the end i didnt get raped on my trade in
compared to some horror stories i've seen on evo's etc

LOL..this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard..ok..so you have an SI that you just paid 22-24k(with navi) ...and this whole site is pretty much about modding your vehicle...I'd say 90% of the people in here have 30k into their SI's by the time their done regardless..why not get the one that already has everything you want on it..and save the time waiting around for it to get to your house??

Well i can say this. Not trying to argue or anything....but i paid $21,770 for my civic and new wheels, tires, coilover suspension, and even an HFP kit still won't put me near $30K. I might have to wait a while to get all of that stuff on the car, but at least i won't be paying for it for 4,5,or 6 years w/ interest.
That's how i see it, but hey everybody is different, some people are actually into the Mugen Si and would be willing to go that route and to them i will say "more power to you". If it's what you really want and know you can afford, GO FOR IT. Just take the time to evaluate the situation and don't rush into anything just cause it's put in front of your face.
