Default NASA NorCal Brings Back the 12-Hours of Thunderhill

They'll still be running the 25-Hour. They just decided to bring back the early flagged, 12-hour race as the WERC season finale.

Here's the NASA release
And the RoadRaceGeek take on it.

Bah! 12 hour races are for wimps

j/k - I have fond memories of the 12 Hours of Thunderhill. The first race I ever crewed was @ the 2000 12 Hour. I crewed for Allegro racing in 2001 when they won. In 2002, the 12 Hour is where we (PDQ Motorsports racing as RNR Racing) tied up the E2 championship.

Why dilute the 25 hour with the 12 hours. Having competed in both, the 25 is WAY cooler. They should just make the 25 hour worth 3x points in the werc series.

Well, Jerry gives a few reasons on the press release I cited above.

Personally, I have never been interested in running my car in the 25. This seems like a happy medium for the WERC teams running for a championship.

I really do get all the 25-Hour excitement and lore. But its just not something that everyone is interested in at first. Ask me again in a year, I might feel differently. Maybe this is Jerry's way of throwing guys like me in at the shallow end so we can see how cool it is before doing the high-dive...
