07 EX- WANT TO INSTALL 07 SI RIMS ------HELP!!!!!!!
Hi, I made a stupid mistake and hope someone can help me.
I bought a new set of (06+)SI rims, and would like to put it on my 07-EX. However, when I put it on my car, I noticed that they have different offsets since the front calipers are hitting the back of the rims a little bit. I heard SPACERS can be used to resolve this problem, but I don't know anything about spacers. I know they are cheap for this little piece of metals...I am not sure what size of spacers do I need....or can i just install the spacers in the front only? what will happen if i do that? Hope I can get some comments from people in here.
I think 06+ EX has 55 offsets and 06+SI has 45, am I right?
I might want to sell the SI rims and buy another set if the spacers are costing me so much $ and trouble to install.
Thanks!!

I used 10mm spacers, but another guy said you only needed 3mm, which are a lot safer than the ones I have unless you change your bolts. And no, you can't only put them on the front because you have an EX which means there are disc brakes all around. If you put on spacers, you will have to do all four wheels. Another alternative is to grind down about two mm of the area on the rim that the calipers are scraping, it wont effect the rim in any way and will be a lot cheaper than buying good quality spacers.
Thanks for your quick response. You used 10mm H&R Wheel Spacers. I don't see they have spacers for 06+ with 5 nuts on their website. Do you know the exact part number by any chance?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have no idea what the part number is, I actually just got them from a tuner shop around seattle. Call up some local tuning shops and see if they have hub specific 5x114.3 spacers, and you should be golden. FYI, I recommend getting only like 3 mm, then you wont have to change your bolts. The mistake I made was getting 10mm, now my wheels are sitting on a lot less thread. When I get the money, I'm also gonna switch to 3mm. Good luck

one last question probably about the spacers. Are you using 10mm same size front and rear? H&R recommends 5mm front and 15mm rear. Is that ok if I don't change the stubs if only using 5mm? Thanks!
Thanks for your offer.
Are they new or used, any brand?
Are u sure they will fit 06+ Civic EX?
How many bolts and what size is the center core?
You tell me how much you want to sell.
Thanks!

This might sound ghetto but i bought a set of Si rims for my wifes Ex,and it only hit the caliper bracket on the driver side, passenger side cleared perfect. The ghetto part was that i grinded the unfinished metal off the bracket (not much)and Presto no more scraping
,and the car handles a little better with the Si rims.

I would definitly not grind on the rim,it would throw the weight off and the balance of the rim causing vibrations.

Right, I wouln't grind the rim but grinding the part of the caliper that is hitting/rubbing is probably your best best. It can't be that much you have to grind, right?
That's sound like a good idea to grind the metal instead of adding the spacers because longer stubs will need to be installed. Unfornately I am not a DIY person, and I also do not have home garage to do that. It is gonna cost me some $ to have the shop to change the stubs.
It is hitting on the passenger side only. I noticed that when the rims were intalled in the tire shop, and they were about to drive my car out of the garage. When I took the rims off, I saw the upper corner of the right front caliper were ripped off like a "diamond cut"
and there was a circle line scretch behind the "H"logo of the rim. I hope I can have it fixed this Sat, and sell the original rims and tires right away.
My next thing wanna do is upgrade the suspension. I don't see any choices out there for 06+ except Tein coilover. Does anyone have any suggestion? I might just get the Tein Basis coilover but still gonna cost like $900+ I found on ebay.

hfp suspension. i heard its awesome, and only drops the car around an inch. so if youre looking for a hefty drop get some coilovers.
