its a D16y7, i get a loud ticking noise similar to a loud rocker but louder than any rocker ive heard, in the mornings when the motor is cold. the noise fades out around 3500 rpm when cold, and altogether once it warms up.

bearings for sure or could it be something else? also i have heard that these motors have weak oil pumps, any truth there?

 

probably rod bearing. the y7/y5/y8 pumps suck.

just slap a new bearing on it and use a k20 oil filter to increase oil pressure
