Popping noise from exhaust
I have a 88 Lx with a d16z6 obd1 swap. I am hearing a popping noise from the exhaust. I also have one loud valve. so I am going to adjust the valves tommorow. do you think this popping noise could be from a valve out of adjustment?? or am I most likely gonna have to rebuild the head??
Sounds like your car is backfiring to me. What are you running for an exhaust? If you bounce the revs up high it'll pop from what I understand I never do it to my car. Perhaps your timing needs adjusted.
yes its on deceleration. it is best heard when the vehicle is idling. as for running lean. it makes the noise hot or cold so I dont think that would be the case. as for my timing, I just adjusted the other day its good. I sort of heard the noise when I first started driving the car and it was very very quiet. I do constantly rev the motor to about 6000rpm. the noise has gotten louder in the past couple days though. I have not had a problem with the car and ive been driving it for about a month now.
