IF i have a JDM motor and i have to go to CHP to check all the VIN how would i pass? the cars a salvaged title thats why you wouldhave to go to CHP to check out the VINS

 

You need a receipt for the motor. Should be no problem. Receipt should show the serial number of the motor.

you can thank all those illegal road racing kids for chp vin checks. but as vivid said long as you have proof of purchase or a dmv bill of sale(bought a motor from a friends car) it should pass like cake

what kind of reciept would qualify for a pass?? need to know asap just bought a car with a jdm motor and have no reciept for it.

Can you contact the previous owner to see if they have any documentation for the engine?

worst case scenario:
im a little worried about not having any papers for it. what else can i do? thanks

 

i have a jdm itr no vins on trans or block. i got it from canadia... so im screwed?

 

All you need is a receipt for the motor........the officer will photo copy the receipt. Did the same thing with my ITR a couple of years ago.

 

would the CHP take a bill of sale writtin out by a friend?

 

ya as long as he puts hes Driver # and phone number nane etc.

what me and my friend did when i sold my motor for a k20 i wrote out a bill of sale had mine and his full name dl # contact info breif statment on condition of motor how much it was sold for and then we signed it. It passed CHP vin check but it was flagged due to car was stolen bu the flag has been removed

 

when you pass the chp check - do they give you vin tabs to put on the motor/tranny so you aren't hassled anymore ?

 

no they only do that for cars that been imported and converted and/or if the car was salvaged and rebuild that the doors, dash, hood vins differ.

 

so when ur friend wrote out the bill of sale did he CHP actually contact him and looked into it?or do they just see that you paid for the replaced item?

did your 97 R get stolen and then after your car was recovered you sold the motor to a friend?

 

traded b18c for k20
swapped
car was stolen reported
motor/tranny report stolen as well was cleaned up by the bill of sale since it was "sold" before the theft

and civic6 why would the chp contact him when hes at the chp and yes they did call me and see if it was legit.

also note that now the DMV has a Legit Bill of Sale pdf online for download that you can fill out and sign. This is the ultimate CHP love.

 

no cltitus i was meaning did the CHP call up his friend who sold what ever needed to be checked? becuase I just wanted to see if the CHP just call them and say if it legit or not, or if they do their own intestigation and see where the person who sold it to you got it from.lmk thx!wheres that DMV love paper ? u got the link thx!
