My D15 in my civic is surging really bad.. it idles jumping between 1000 and 2000.. and it keeps surging i have checked all the vac lines n the egr valve.... n the plugs n they are not switched.... please help.. thanx

thank you.. are you sure that is the problem.... because i was able to drive it last night and when i drove it the only time that it tended to surge was when i was at a stop.. when i accelerated it did not surge or anything... i had replaced many things on the intake manifold and all the vacuum lines... thank you..

 

yes my car runs smooth through the rpm range just at idle. Clean your IACV, FTIV and TB(there is a archived thread on here i used) That fixed most problems, the IACV is very easy to clean, its 2 12mmbolts and remove to hoses with clamps...The rest is easy to now that i think about it.

I cleaned mine and i got a new problem that rarely occured before. Once my engine is warm it surges in Park and N, and when i coast to a stop occasionaly. I unplug my IACV and it stops and idles beautifuly; ie bad iac valve

 

what is a FTIV

 

Also have you checked the coolant level? if it gets low it will idle like that. Also you see any smoke out the exhuast? Check your T-stat also.
