Default I Need Help

Well, here's the problem; when the car is at idle the tach jumps from idle to about 2500rpm and then back to idle. It does this the whole time the car is on, its almost like i'm tapping the gas and then letting off. I checked to see if I had a vacuum leak, but everything seems fine. Can anyone help me diagnose my problem?

Sounds like a bad IACV. Your IACV is located on the back of your intake manifold (if you have a MPFI equipped car, if you have a DX/LX, it's on the side of the intake manifold, it has coolant lines running in and out of it). Either it's bad or dirty. You can try cleaning it out with some brake cleaner. If that still doesn't help, you probably will need a replacement.

this takes 10 minutes to do and helped my problem:

after youve done that, take off the intake, spray some carb cleaner into the throttle body while someone else pushes on the gas lightly. aim for the little holes inside the throttle body, to try to flush out the iacv and whatnot.

you can also spray the cleaner on your vaccum lines, if you car revs, youve found your leak.

also what b16 vaccum diagram did you follow? some are different.

Also try putting your foot underneather the gas pedal and pull up, if boucing stops, readjust your throttle cable.

Problem solved, i started with the IACV, but it turned out to be the FITV.
