Chipping a LS and a turbo question
chipping??? What do you mean by that...If you have sufficient aftermarket modifications such as IM, Cams, Turbo, New bottom end etc etc...then a custom tune would be a necessity in some of those instances
If you are referring to some generic chip they sell on the market for the LS...then no it wouldnt be worth it...I dont care if spoon or mugen plastered their name over it...

1. wheres the turbo question ?
2. what do you mean by "chipping" ?

If you're talking about a chipped ecu with a modified basemap for just regular bolt on mods, it might not be worth it to you. I bought a chipped ecu with a crome basemap from phearable, that was made for my bolt on mods (I/H/E) and honestly, it was a nice little mod for only 150. I dont have any dyno numbers, but the car definitely reacted differently with his basemap. I was even getting awesome gas mileage, 30-33 mpg, where 30mpg was actually low for me. Throttle response was definitely a lot different than stock.
I did a comparison a while back. You might be able to find my thread on it. I compared phearable's basemap to Kenji's basemap, and I felt phearable's basemap was considreably better than Kenji's.
The benefit of buying phearables chipped ecu...I was able to use it during my turbo install/dyno. Since I already had a chipped ecu, it made chris whitfields life easier since all he had to do was burn me a basemap which I used for a day, just to get me to his dyno safely. Honestly his basemap was so good, I could have just used it forever. I dyno'd at 187whp with his basemap, and the hp & tq curves were pretty damn smooth. I gained an extra 10whp by getting my car finely tuned though.
The real benefit of having a chipped ecu, is to run crome, neptune, etc so you can modify the maps at a dyno, to maximize the potential of your setup. If you just have bolt on's, it'd probably be best to hold off on getting a chipped ecu. If you plan on boosting in the future, go ahead and get one.

no, it's not worth it. you might gain a few hp if you actually tune it, otherwise don't waste your money.
