Motor back together, pulls strong as hell Comp test numbers good??
USDM b18c5 bottem end..(stock)
1996 jdm b18c head, p/p, milled 0.020, ferrea HC SS valves..
in a nutshell zealautoworks says 11.6~11.8 CR
i did a compression test, throttle wide open, and turned the car over until the needle stopped moving..across the board its 245/245/245/245 this was with the car at normal operating temp...
What bugs me is the shop said the head was infact uneven.. when he got it..
before this whole hg problem i was getting almost 250-260 across the board..now its steady, although the numbers differ the last time their steady this time..

Two things off the top of my head, 1, gauges are like dynos, no two read the same so are you using the same one or a different one?
2, was the throttle plate wide open?
2, was the throttle plate wide open?
Compression test are really only used to make sure theres not a big difference in compression numbers between cylinders.Or to see if a certain cylinder is really low..So, whats the problem?
Some people just get as wrapped around the axle about compression numbers as they do about dyno numbers. You are correct though, it's to tell the difference between cylinders but also all engines have a service limit where it is to low.
He however is nowhere near that.

Well, its the same guage as i've been using.. And the plate was infact wide the hell open, i'm not complainning just the numbers seem low for a 11.8 cr motor..i want to make sure this motor is healthy, it took me a day to pull the head, and clean everything and make sure everything was in working order and another day to put it back on, i take my time, double check everything and everything is torqued down correctly, i have done a full head swap in 3 hours..before on my car i'm not complainning just asking if these numbers seem right.
