Default Automatic Civic

Im getting a four door 2007 civic ex and i just wanted to know if it is a bad idea to get it with automatic if i am wanting to get a cold air intake, custom exhaust and a other things down the line....i eventually want the horsepower to be around 225....and i want it to be able to do 13.8-13.9 1/4 mile.....im just wondering that with routine maitanence on the automatic tranny can i still make it last 250,000 miles with that horsepower and 1/4 mile times

what are plans for making 225 hp out of the ex motor=? NA? FI?

225hp out of the r18 will not be easy without some boost.

You have a LONG road ahead of you before you reach 13s with a CAI and "other things" in an auto .

Look.. if you honestly want ANY sort of performance, DON'T get an automatic. That is just the worst idea I've ever heard.

I currently own an auto LX that is in the process of being traded in for an SI. It's just a slow car. Even the manual will still be slow, but it's a HUGE step up towards running 13s.

It's gonna take built internals, and lots of boost to get remotely close to 13s on the r18 manual. If you were gonna get the EX auto, just spend a bit more and get the SI. You will be thanking me later for that

i really dont think it will take all that and "lots of boost" i think that the ajp kit will be right there for pushing the r18 into high 13's with a good tune

With the combined money you'll use just buying an AJP turbo w/o tune and an auto EX, you could just get an Si which will still be near equally fast anyway than an untuned turbo R18. Add the tune and that's just more money you'll need to spend. Not to mention the installation on the kit which more than likely won't be any less than $500 if you want it done half right.

You think a tuned AJP kit is gonna get an auto civic into the 13s? It will need a fair amount of boost to hit 13s, thus requiring internals. I'm no mechanic (obviously), but 13 1/4miles is fairly quick.. and from driving an auto r18, I know they are on the opposite end of that spectrum. Auto r18 = ridiculously slow. I would be afraid revving a prius at a stoplight.

Yes i know that. But he's gonna need alot more than just an AJP turbo kit to get an auto R18 in the 13s.
