DSM 450's or stock + fmu
Like the title says... I want to turbo a d16y8 with a small turbo at about 8 psi. I've seen a million people saying just go with stock injectectors with an fmu and a million people say fo with the upgraded injectors with a chipped ecu... what is better for a daily driver? Also, I can't seem to find any definitive disadvantages of either...
I am lookin for three things..
1. Reliability for daily driving and longevity (as much as can be expected being turbod)
2. Ability to pass emission in Fairfax County (I understand I'll have to do work before test time reguardless
3. and of course cost... (obviously being as I'm turboing a d16y8)
Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

Don't run an fmu & missing link setup etc. It is a waste of time and money,
I recommend you read over:

It will explain most of the things you need to know :-)

If it was still 1995, I'd say go with the FMU setup because that is all that is available. But it's 2007 and there are plenty of proven engine management solutions for Hondas; you'd be a fool not to go with one from the beginning. Do it right or don't do it at all.
Thanks for the info!
...so 450's with either chiped ecu or engine management... is there a way I can do this without converting to OBDII? I mean that is cost affective? I do not believe I will be able to pass emissions with and OBDI conversion.

If I were in your shoes, I'd suck it up and remove your turbo kit and plug your stock OBD-2 computer back in when it's time for inspection. Maybe there is one, but I can't think of any way of getting around OBD-2 inspection.
It's a '99 ex... OBDII so that might not fly but i guess if I (or anyone else) cant come up with something then i guess every two years I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling OBDI conversion every 2 years... *sigh*
Thanks again for the info, and thanks in advance if you guys stumble on something I could with OBDII.
