Default Are db 650 and db 690 Polk Audio a straight swap?

I posted a few weeks ago about getting some new speakers and if Polk Audio’s db650’s size 6.5 for the front and db690’s size 6x9 for the back would be a straight swap? Well, I Just got them in and the new speakers don’t plug into my original set-up.

I think the part may be called a couplet. If so, they are different and do not engage. Are these speakers suppose to just plug and play or do I need some type of an adaptor to mate the couplets? I have a 95 Integra four-door sedan by the way.

I’ll post some pix and hope someone can shed some light on the subject and provide a link to the original post…

Peace

Sorry, I can’t figure out how to post photographs or provide a link…

Yes, you either have to have the pigtail that takes it from factory clip to bare wire, or you can cut the factory clips off and put the spades on.

Thanx 95 Integra for your reply. I’m not electrically inclined and need some visual aid. Is there a website that may help me with this process, with pictures preferably.

Or, where is the best place to purchase an adaptor that would fit between the odd spades? I think that would be the best route as not to alter the speakers and make the warranty void, just in case one of the four speakers have a problem in the future.

I’d hate to have to return these nice speakers to Car Domain and have to pay the local car audio place for speakers and install. I got all four speakers from Car Domain for the low price of about $165 with free shipping. The local car audio place wants $168 just for two front speaker and install.

Another question I could use some help with is, I ‘d like to add an amp to my car in the very near future. I ‘m not looking to put in woofers or anything loud. I would just like a nice little amp to improve the sound and complement the new speakers.

If I was to do all this work at the local car audio place, it would cost me somewhere in the area of $525.00 and above. That’s way I’m trying to do as much as I can on my own…

Peace

I dont know if you can download them for free/without buying something, but http://www.crutchfield.com has diagrams and has the pigtails that make everything plug and play. Also, check out http://www.the12volt.com for diagrams as well (you'll have to sign up to see them....its free and they dont spam you with ****, so its all good).
