Need help!! Car won't stay running
I have a 2000 Honda Accord with a H22A swap. Car has run great until the dash was pulled. The car ran after everything was put back together but with a few problems. When I drive it the speedometer bounces. The car dies after it is running for a little bit and then has no juice left. I have to jump it. I had the alternator checked out and it said it was good. I even bought another one and still, same result. I need help. I leave to Florida in 5 days and need my car running before I leave. Talk to me Honda people.
Did the swap cause these problems or did the problems start after you took the dash off? Did you test the battery? Take the dash back off and make sure you didn't pinch any wires causing a short or something. I don't know, but if it was working fine before you messed with the dash I'd probably say its something electrical there.
I have had the swap for a while and all was good. We took the dash out and thats when the problems started. The battery is near new and its an optima so I know its not that. When I take the negative wire off the battery the car dies. So to me, that means its something with the alternator, atleast that is what I thought. Gotta run thru all the wires tomorrow and double check them all. Thinking it can also be a relay.
im pretty sure your not going to be able to run your car off your alternator there dude. thats why you have a battery, its a buffer. your alternator isn't on all the time, only when the battery needs to be charged.
The car should run alright off the alternator for a short while. By taking off the negative cable from the battery is one way to test that. I know what the alternator does. I'm not car noob
well, I had an idea of how to try to help you until I saw your response to someone else that tried to help you.
No wonder all the good techs are leaving this website.
Go figure.
