Why no more revs? That thing could still make more.. seems very peaky.

I'm pretty sure its just the dyno being out of spec

Numbers look low, but then again mustang dynos read lower then most.
Tq curve looks nice & flat. It would be interesting to see the results on a dynojet.

I don't see anything peaky about that torque curve. its actually one of the flattest I've seen (although that could be due to the scale). That said, torque isn't falling off at 8k, so it should be able to go some more revs.

Mustang dynos are notorious for reading low.

I think your making about 185 to 190 hp of a dynojet 248c. Either way that is some good power.

When the track opens, you'll be having some fun.

had the same problem when i dynoed my car on a mustang dyno.

i got 186/124 with the original M22's (not m22x or m22xx) on a very similar setup to yours. and you have a better header then i do. i bet you could get a few more ponies if u revved it higher..

what did u set ur rev limit to?

My tuner revved it to 8600 but the graph only goes to 8k for some reason

your tachometer could be reading high. Are you using an OEM tach? they are known to be off a bit.

Pretty sure its not off by 600rpms. VAFC (when I used to have it) recorded 86XXrpms when I revved it around there and we could see it on his laptop on crome.

I think the dyno just wasn't calibrated correctly

Mustang dynos will always read lower because they are more accurate to real life road conditions. It used the Cd of car to determine drag. 175 hp on a mustang dyno would be around 200 at the wheels on a dyno jet!!

I think maybe the problem is the graph just didnt read your entire pull, you were making 175 hp at 8k but possibly 185 at 8600 rpm.

I stood and watched with my own eyes a guy run his CRX on a mustang dyno and it made 198 .He pulled it off the mustang and i followed him one block away to a dyno jet and it made 247.And did not change one thing.
Dynos are for tuning not for comparing.

I know, thats why I'm not going "OMGWTF!?!?!?! only 175whp!!?!?!?!?!waaahh" or anything.

Just sucks for bragging

btw, I've seen the RPM misalignment issue a million times with mustang dynos. Mustang dynos (like dynapacks or most other loading dynos) measure TORQUE directly and infer horsepower from torque and RPM. Dynojets measure acceleration, calculate horsepower and then infer torque from horsepower and RPM.

Most mustang dynos use a speed calibration procedure where you hold the car at 3000 RPM in the test gear and the dyno measures the vehicle speed in order to get the gear ratio used for calculating RPM during the test. If this test is not done 100% perfectly, you end up with a skewed RPM scale. Also figure that errors multiply with vehicle speed - at 9000 RPM, the car will be moving 3x as fast as at 3000 RPM, so any calibration errors will be 3x as bad.

Hope that makes some sense.

I like the torque curve, in any case.

Yeah, this dyno always seems to read the RPMs a little low...the other nuisance with the Mustang is that you have to setup runs conditions based on vehicle speed (from 20mph to 80mph or whatever) so you almost have to guess or log what actual MPH you are at hitting rev limit...in his case 8600 (77 mph in 3rd if i remember correctly).

The torque should read correctly but because HP is a calculated number based on Torque and RPM, the peak HP numbers are probably low as the dyno is using 8000 to calculate instead of 8600.

Dave, I might spend some time figuring out the inductive pickup and may need your help configuring it next time I am there, maybe some phone support

like said a dynos purpose is to tune you pulledsome good peak hp #s off of the tune so i would be happy!

the real question is How does it feel?

take it to the track and beat up on some people youll love it
