I purchased one this week from an insurance auction. Curious as to if I did good and what its worth if I choose to resell it. It looks like someone put it in a ditch.
Here is the damage... The driver airbag is blown, and passenger curtain bag is blown..runs and drives with 15k on it. I paid 8k for it. Already got a quote on what you see in parts 109 fender...wheel is 186...its not bad bumper is fixable. Just curious what its worth or if i overpaid.
Here is a link to the damage https://www.iaai-bid.com/getim...46214

for 8 k i would have just parted the whole thing out on ebay and turned a profit.. never even registered it
motor alone = 4500

I live in indiana, i title salvage title vehicles to rebuilt titles all the time all thats needed here is a 5 minute inspection from a state police officer to verify that the vin numbers and lights work and the dmv is ready to reassign it to anyone as a rebuilt. There are no laws here its cake. We dont even have emmisions or vehicle inspections here. Ive seen vehicles with the bumpers ripped off and zero damage get totaled out, its all in how an adjuster chooses to write it up. Ah well guess i asked the wrong people lol.
Im going to have about 1k in parts to fix it....so we will see...just curious as to the value of it once its fixed but with a rebuilt title.

That is going to be more than 1k to fix. Look at the front wheel, It is pushed back. I bet you the frame rail is bent. Insurance totaled that car for a reason. They usually go up to 65-70% of the cars value before they total.. So if that is the case, it will be over 10k to fix.
it probably needs a whole suspension assembly, which isnt much from lkq... odds of the frame being bent with no direct hit are highly highly...unlikely...frames dont just bend i dont care how hard a wheel hits something
i had an eclipse awhile back that the frame rail was pushed 8" off and it cost me 145 dollars to have it pulled back to spec..which was about 6hrs of pulling....this is nothing near that
fender is 109
wheel 185
tire 135
fender liner 29
suspension assembly from lkq 200-300
we will see...

I've seen cars hit curbs
bend frames, control arms
to hit something that hard taht you take THAT big of a chunk from an OEM wheel
SOMETHING is bent frame wise.

If you mean the frame as in the engine cradle/subframe, then yes it may be bent. If you mean the actual unibody body structure then no, the suspension only attaches at the top which it can pivot. The rest is on the lower subframe and can be changed out very easily.

Ya... not so sure u know what your talking about...
theres a big difference between unibody damage and a control arm...
You could probably get 12-15k for it if fixed properly. which does not look like too much work

I'd throw all that **** into an EG hatch and call it a day
8K doesnt seem like a bad price but even after some repairs its possible that the car will still never be "right" again

8k for 15k miles? sounds a bit expensive my cuzen bought one too paid 11k for 1300 miles uhh frame is defo damged and cars can be considerd total for a numoures of reasons for ex i was told just for the airbags deploying they can consider to be salvage another thing is that the customer can bitch to the insurance that he bought a new car and full coverage etc etc and ends up getting a 07 or someting ..... anyways its not much money investment fix it up , but yea its not a good deal for a 15k mile on a price of 8k

if you look at the picture underneath the door looks "peeled back",
i just think the car took some shot ..enough so to tuck that in, rip off a piece of rim, crumple the fender, rip the trim, push the wheel back... the subframe, control arm etc could be bent.
but you'd have to physically be in the car and there to look and see
Can you post pix from underneath?
Also ontop of that you still have to replace the airbags repaint etc etc
just a hassle to m...better off h disecting it

Goodbye tayshas, Hello indy!
Goodbye tayshas, Hello indy!
I've been around rebuilds for a long time and by what you've written It seems like you have to.
However it's one thing to be the person who reinstates titles it's another thing entirely to be the experienced inspector or mechanic/bodyman who's done this type of work before.
This is over 15 years of automotive buying, selling, and repairing speaking. Taking into account the STATE you live in (makes all the diffrence) , any luck that day at the nauction no one wanted an 06 si, (please remember most people buying wrecks buy AUTOMATIC 4DR A/C cars for easy sales. Fewer people deal with 2dr manuals this is a FACT) OR the other experienced buyers saw an excess of damage you didnt and chose to stay away from it or not bid very high.
In my experience I have seen frame damage as well as suspension parts as well as and dont forget the TRANS!!!
Dont forget when the wheel crashes up against a curb not only does the chassis and suspension parts take the hit, but the entire drivetrain can suffer as well. If the TRANSMISSION is damaged where the axle connects to it or cracked where you couldnt see it the damage will excede any profits you wish to make.
These things unfortunately come with buying wrecks. I wish you luck and hope you know that this can be profitable as well as a HORROR STORY!

You made the most knowledgeable quote yet. Yes the trans could be trashed so what a rsx trans is 600-800 dollars...a caseing for a trashed trans is nothing..but these people saying its going to cost 10k thast funny. I had a 06 vette cliped from the firewall up parts and everything for 7k and thats some expensive **** on the front of a vette when your replacing everything.
If i wanted to part it ida just bought an rsx those bring 2700 for run and drive cars all day long.
However on these cars they have engine cradles...like the other guy said if anything got trashed it was the cradle and theres a couple on ebay for 150 each....
And actually manual cars are usally better to buy because when they are picked up by a fork lift and dragged by a tractor they tend to roll a bit easier at these insurance auctions. Then we have the resale purposes as well...

Just to let you know, you are looking at 1500.00 in JUST airbags. Who knows how much suspension damage and frame damage is done. Good Luck with your rebuild. And LKQ parts are about the same price as OEM..
ive seen 5 driverside airbags not bring more then 200-250 alone on ebay the passenger side isnt blown....
are there any other bags blown? The 1500 is the cost of the driverside and side curtain. Bodyshop cost for the driverside is around 600. Plus the module and sensor.
driver side is blown only those are 200-250 on ebay and parts shops all day long....
