Swap Help
We just did a compression test on my friends 1997 auto prelude. And 1st and 3rd cylinder are shot. Which we figured, but since the car is auto he dosent want to just drop another short block in.
He wants to convert it to a manual, now Ive done numerous d-series swaps and b-series swap, but never an h-series.
Ive been reading a lot and Im confused on a couple parts...
1. People say if the car is equipped with ATTS then the swap cannot be done, and I read up on ATTS and it is something to do with a 2 clutch system for automatics correct?
2. The SH motor he wants to put in that is from HMO, that is where Ive always got all my engines from, the tranny that comes with it is just a regular 5-spd lsd correct?
Also I have this page here for a guide to help with the auto to manual part, but its really I dont understand the whole ATTS ****.http://www.mazmo.com/zameoj/swap.htm

First of all why does he want an SH? What are his plans for the future of the car? Does he plan to go turbo or add any major modifications?
The Type-S motor is usually prefered for SH Preludes because SH Preludes come eqquipped with all the ATTS electronics already. The base Prelude would not have the ATTS ECU plug needed to put in the ATTS computer, along with numerous wires, Fuse, ECU, ect. The Type-S is basically an SH motor but with higher compression and more aggressive cams, in result of the higher horse power rating (220).
He would be better off doing the Euro-R swap, which has the same power as the Type-S but it does not have the ATTS unit and it has a TRUE LSD tranny. The Type-S does not.
Althought im not sure the Euro-R should be a direct fit but you may have to move things around like vaccum hoses and electrical connections to make everything work right.
If it was me i would go Euro-R. HMO has those in stock, if they would of had that motor in when i bought my Type-S i would of bought that one instead only because i want an LSD tranny and remove the ATTS.

Oh and on top of that, he is gonna need all the 5spd parts to make the swap work since he was auto. Clutch pedal, shift cables, tranny mounts, slave cylinder, clutch damper, ect. Its gonna be a fun and complex project!
