starts up then die on cold starts ONLY
my car starts up then die on cold starts only. i have to start then hold to gas for about 25-35 sec before it can idel at it own. after it warms up it idels fine 750 and start back up fine. not sure what the problem can be 89 si w/ sohc zc

i have the same problem. just learned to deal with it after awhile. my fast idle had some problems so i blocked it off. but the problem sounds like a fast idle issue to me i would start there

i would take your fast idle valve off and clean it.. the books say to replace it, but the dealer w2ants 100 bucks for it.. search for fast idle and you will come across a thread on a DIY for cleaning it.. i have to di ti to mine cause its stuck open and idles at 2k whe warm.. i blocked it off on the TB, but i should get around to cleaning it this weekend.
