Default Oh Mr. Motormount, where art thou?

Is it normal to have the front mount move as much as a centimeter back and forth? It doesnt seem to me like this is normal, and may explain why my shifts are so violent. Can I hear some imput please?

If its not too difficult, I'd like to do it myself. But I know those are obviously the options...THE ONLY OPTIONS . I was asking whether so much movement was normal. My other mounts dont move so much.

blow your money on drugs and prostitutes instead of unneeded auto parts.

I've got a new front mount sitting on my bedroom floor.
It's my 5th front mount. Yes, the rubber can stretch about 1cm up and down, that's why they break so easily. If it's broken, you can easily see the tears in the rubber.
Right now I have E/S poly inserts on the broken mount in the car.

Edit: the 4th gen front mount really is a joke. A 5th gen mount won't fit. The best solution I've found so far is the E/S inserts, but it really adds a good bit of vibration to the car which I really hate.

I see. So should I invest in an Energy Suspension insert?

If you dont mind a lil more in car vibration, go for it.

Hmmm, intersting. Well, my current vibration pisses me off bad. What are some advantages of the FRONT E/S polyeurothane insert?

Whaddup Gennady. If you want an easy replacement for your mount you can take the one that came off of my car. It was recently replaced late last year due to the fact that the one before it was finished. You can tell if its going if the engine feels like its rocking back and forth when you step on the gas. Other than that you probably dont need one because they are made to flex...

In any case you know where and how to find me if you need it.

Jason, you're not going to buy another Accord are you? I thought I saw somewhere that you were thinking of dropping your H22 Spec S in a EK?

Just finished dropping in the motor this past 2 weekends and started her up this past Saturday.. This weekend I am just going to finish up some of the wiring then wait for the axles to come in...

The DX is a little heavier than the CX/VX but lighter than the SI.. I wasnt looking for the lightest thing around, nor will I be hitting the track every weekend. Just wanted something that was a little fun to drive, plus I can fit my lude engine in there and put mad fools to sleep.

Waddup 4doorh22,

Yeah I know all the myths and legends about this type of setup, but the goal is to make sure that I can go fast in straights lines as well as in the turns.. That is why I am taking my time with the swap and not rushing anything really. Since the engine side of things is pretty much done already, except a few things, I can really concentrate on suspension and braking and see what works for me..

Dont worry when the setup is all good and done I will be happy to come out to MD and still see what you blue lude is made of.. Just maybe not in any autox events just yet..

Did anyone buy the Prothane rear motor mount insert for a 5th gen accord?

I am thinking of buying the front/rear set they have, but I found out the 5th gen EX motors have a diff rear mount than the LX/DX motors (which have the same mount as a 4th gen Prelude Si I believe)... anyone have some insight on this?

You're exactly right. The EX has a different rear mount. To use the inserts, you need the motor mount and bracket from a DX/LX.

OK: let's settle the engine mount debate:

5G Accord EX
5G Accord LX/DX
4G Prelude Si
4G Prelude VTEC
5G Prelude

The EX mount differs from the LX/DX mount. However, both have different mounts and brackets than the Prelude mounts.
