Default gasoline smell in oil...

ok, so i have a 98 integra GSR and i recently smelled my dipstick and found a somewhat strong smell of gasoline. i know that isn't good, but i dont know what could be causing my gas to go in my oil. i have an oil leak on the bottom left corner of my head/block gasket. does that signify a blown head gasket. i got a compression test done and cylinder #1 is a noticeable ways off the other cylinder's pressure. my mechanic says that he'd have to take my head off and inspect the head cuz he thinks that a valve might be sticking. quite frankly i dont have the money right now to have him do that so...any clues to the possible problems? thanks.

sounds like a bad piston ring, you might be having lots of blow by, which means when your cyl #1 compresses some of your air and fuel is escaping past your piston and into your oil, it also sounds like you might have a slightly blown head gasket too, but i wouldnt be able to tell for sure

do you hit vtec alot? If you do thats your answer. Oil in most high compression engines will smell like gas. I had a GSR with 60k on the clock that had the same smell and I got it from an older man and now i have a gsr with 117k and it smells the same. I also had a 96 M3 that had the same smell and I rarely beat on it.
So dont worry about.

i'm w/slammedDC2teg except i'm not sure if it has to do w/hitting vtec bc i drive like an old lady and dont really hit vtec that often and i have that smell too. and i'm disagreeing w/boocivic as my compression #s are perfect.

Same thing here. I do hit vtec a lot. Hell, everytime I see a freeway on ramp, its vtec time all the way to 7500 in second and third (LOL), but my vtec engagement is at 5700, so its not for too long. Oil smells like gas from day one. Don't worry about it. My wife's BMW 330i has the same smell. No big deal. But both our car do lose oil. I lose about a quart every 3k miles, which is pretty normal I guess. So keep an eye on your oil level.

I dont loose a quart every 3k. I think it has to do with smashing on your car. I dont really beat on it uless im in the mood.
