Default Drag Turbo kit or GReddy Turbo kit????

Hello HT!
I wanted to get some opinions from everyone on a good turbo kit for my 98 GSR. I am considering between two as of right now, the Drag Turbo Kit or the Greddy. I like the fact that the Drag does come with an intercooler but wanted some opinions or any good advice you all could give if you have either one, and which may be better. Thanks.

neither unless you live in a state w/ bs laws that limit your choices to CARB approved setups in which case i would get the DRAG setup

I would invest in a better one. For that price, try going with a kit that offers equal length manifolds such as peak boost. They used to have them on here for sale don't know if they still offer it.

uhhhhhh... the Drag kit isnt carb approved, the Greddy kit is.

It just depends on how much power you want to make.
I think that the drag would be able to make a little more power sinc ethe greddy internal wastegate tops out anywhere from 10-15 psi.

If you want to keep the greddy kit at the stock boost, an intercooler isnt 100% necesary.

But the drag turbo kit is an exceptionally nice kit.

Post back on how much power you want to make.
and remember youll need to get some sort of engine management.. The FMU really wont do much... its not 100% safe.

no matter what turbo kit you run, make sure to get an intercooler. greddy kit is great but power is limited to around 300hp, generally way less. no idea what turbo the drag kit uses, but im sure it is quite a bit larger than the greddy turbo. if you just want to slap a turbo kit on ur teg and go buy the greddy turbo and ic kit and be done.

I have the greddy kit with the greddy intercooler kit also. Everything fits perfect, I leave the boost at factory setting b/c my motor is not built. I have 200k plus miles with the turbo kit with no problems.

If passing inspection and all that jazz is big where you are go Greddy..If not, either piece together your own kit or look into a better made premade kit, such as Peakboost or Full Race. The manifold design of the drag manifold is by FAR THE WORST, IT WILL BOOST CREEP...Someone thought it was cool to place the WG over one runner.

since he doesnt have to deal with carb ****, if he wants to just bolt a kit on and have it tuned go with greddy turbo and ic kit. if he wants more hp or is willing to do some fab work then piece together a kit. either way remember to get your car tuned.

Thank you all for the great advice. As I read and understand the good key points you all have made, I do believe the Greddy kit and FMIC will be the best for me. I know the 7-8 psi will be enough for me starting out and after all once I start I know and have learned that the kit is upgradeable. Thank you once again and you guys take care.

I Love this site!!!

This is true, because once your bitten by the turbo bug I can guarantee that you'll want to upgrade that kit immediately. You'll probably spend more money in the long run but at the same time you'll learn more as you upgrade certain aspects of the setup...good luck either way

I would peice together my own kit, you will be satisfyed with 7 psi on your greddy kit for about a week, then you will want more power.

Just forget the idea of the Greddy kit since you dont have to pass emissions or any of that crap. Build something worthwhile...if you piece a setup together yourself, which isn't hard...i can tell you from experience, you'll not only save money, but gain valuable experience

I would agree with the comment about peakboost keep in mind a good manifold and 3inch down pipe i think greddy only offers a 2.5 which is junk Peakboost all the way
