Anyone go from an EP si to a new Si?

I am considering getting out of my '04 Si and just test drove the '07 Si sedan. It was wet out and the car had 2 miles on it, so i didn't drive it too hard. It seemed to have a pretty aggressive top end, but of course no torque to speak of...
It was noticeably faster than the EP, even in such a limited situation; i don't think i went past 6.5K and i had three people in the car- the salesperson who was no small boy, my woman, and me!
Saying it's faster isn't saying much though because the EP was barely adequate in the acceleration department; just enough to not be dangerous when merging...I am a bit spoiled from having a few turbo GTi's in the past and of course my sohc hatch which has 'nuff torque.
But overall i liked this new Si.
Keep in mind i kept the EP bone stock and this car will be kept the same sans some suspension upgrades.
Anyone else make this switch and what do you think if so?

i drove my cousin's ep a couple of times..and switching from that to my si is a big difference...acceleration is much better..top end is amazing on these cars. but all in all i am sure you will enjoy the 4 door si. its a great car. more roomier than the coupe...but only 53 lbs. difference. i beleive.
Def a better car to move on 2 but the hatch still looks great in my opinion i love every sec i am in my SI it always seems like everyone is staring at it good luck you will feel the same !
Few have done it.
I had an ep3 3 cars ago and i loved it...sure it wasn't the best in acceleration but out of the box.. for the money it was a great car..
HOWEVER
the new si... takes everything the ep3 was... and just made it better
With the exception of the ROOM.. the ep flip down rear and hatch > all
BUT you won't be disappointed with a sedan.

I am probably the closest person to you....
I went from my S/C'd 93 Si hatch to a GTI 1.8t (20lbs) to a 03 EP3 and now have an 07 Si.
I love the car. It handles like my Eg did. Feels great. Yes there isnt any torque to speak of comparing it to a turbo VW.....But for a Honda, its torquey. Once it hits 6k you get a nice push from the ivtec engaging etc. Its nice to be able to ride the engine out up to 8k, never received that feeling in the Ep3.

there are quite a few over at fgcoupe.com doing/already made the switch. i am one of them. 02 ep3 to hopefully a 07 sedan, i have drove plenty of coupes and the 6spd and lsd are enough to make me switch, the top end is worlds above the ep3, but if i had the choice, id have the new si motor in the ep3, with suspension changes of course. with the type r parts being a direct swap as well for the sedan, its a + as well
im guessing in stock form, the FG Si is better, for sure. But for tuning, the ep3 is not as heavy as the FG Si,so a EP with a A2,K20A or K24A2 would be a better car.
best thing try to do is,well for me.keep my 05 ep for project and try to get a 07 Si for weekend (go outs).
idk,At the end there both just as good maybe ep better at the end with better motor.and the plus of a ep always being rare and catches the eye while the FG doesnt.
people in the street love my stock ep lol

i agree, i love the look of the 04+ EP.
When it first came out in 02, as a 97 hatch owner i was not enthralled with it, but it grew on me by late 2003 when i saw the updated look they gave it. It looks great hence my keeping it in stock form, however, it's got 70k on it now, so it's out of warranty (i'm not too thrilled about the latest hondas and clutch/timing chain changes) and the payment will be the same or a hair lower (believe it or not) for the newer car IF i spring for the Si sedan. That is with nothing down and trading in the EP. Glad Hondas still hold value atleast!!!
Ideally, the appointments and powertrain of the new piece in the EP would be perfect considering that it is lighter like you've said! But we don't have the patience or the money for such a thing hehe and i'll def keep it stock, so it'll be a step up from the EP on the road.
I'm going to drive the GTI 4dr tomorrow as a last choice before deciding...

well, it's a done deal. storm silver 4dr si will be picked up on wednesday.
21k and change and they are giving me 10.8k for the EP...solid deal indeed considering the finance payout on the si is hovering around 8k, so that makes the 4dr about the same price as the EP was originally- almost the same payment for a MUCH improved piece with a warranty!!
i was originally told it might be 6-8 weeks because there are none to be found, but there WAS one to be found at a dealership conveniently about 45 mins from the dealer my broker is using.
i drove the gti. i have a special love for gti's and this new piece they have is quite a performer, however...
the wheels are hideous and it's quite cramped inside, esp. the 2dr. The 4dr seems to be a hair better, but, all in all, it's just a 'cold' experience and the car just does not seem to warrant the crazy price tag. to get a sunroof, just a sunroof with a base gti, you end up paying several thousand more than an si. it's quick, in the 1.8t tradition the 2.0 can go, but the si is the clear cut supreme choice over it w/o a doubt.
anyway, thanks for the info y0!

well, it's here. but of course, we had our first snowfall! It's negligible, but a PITA nonetheless. The car won't be clean now for days...

One thing i didn't know is how powerful the OE subwoofer is! the sound is very full from the factory, which is nice for a change haha

Congrats man! I know what you mean about the gti, I test drove one as a comparison and it just doesn't do it for me. But my friend bought one, now its lowered with some staggered wheels and it looks pretty good. O yeah and I wasn't feel the plaid seats in the gti!
congrats on the purchase!
as someone who had a 2003 1.8t GTI i think you'll love it. i love it even more than i loved my GTI and i am positive it'll be a hell of a lot more reliable!
best of luck!

thanks yall.
i've only gone past 6k once (to show her how the x-over is heard w/ this car) and my fiance is under strict orders to take it easy when she drives it for 500 miles or so...
it's going to be tough, but i've been through this many times before so whatever- gotta do it IMO.
one thing i noticed is that the little circular vent on the dash near the passenger side, the one that permanently points toward the passenger side window, is loose and comes out easily. nothing looks broked so i dunno!
