how to hook up exhaust temp gauge?

Default how to hook up exhaust temp gauge?

how do you hook up a exhaust temp gauge? and also why does it matter what your exhaust temp is?

You hook one up by welding in a new bung.

It matters because if you see the temperatures increasing under load, and then suddenly dropping, that's a big sign of detonation.

I believe most company EGT that you get come with there own bung, i dont think the o2 bung will work. Also if your a b series you want it on the number 3 cylinder because it gets hot the fastest.

Bah, that's what I was thinking of. Yes, they do come with their own bung (USUALLY).

Wait, you got an EGT gauge, and you didn't buy one that came with a probe?

No. You really seem confused. An EGT gauge uses its own temperature probe, which is installed in the exhaust stream (normally somewhere on the exhaust manifold / header). This probe connects to the gauge, and the gauge is then also wired for power, ground, and illumination.
