Chipped p30 ECU
Chipped p30 ecu
i drive a 98 civic hatchback with a b16a swap done to it! this swap came with a chipped p30. ever since my motor swap, my speedometer doesn’t work! Was working fine before. I noticed that when I’m in reverse I get a clicking noise like it is my axle. Both axles are new and clipped on tight (stuck on all the way). I’m guessing it is my tranny that is causing my speedometer to not work correctly. Anyways on to what i’m in need of help with.
The chipped ecu is throwing a vss code at times. Sometimes it doesn’t even come on. Vtec won’t engage at all either, so I contacted the shipper that sent me the motor and he sent me a stock p30. with that, nothing turns on (no cel I mean). Vtec engages and no check engine light either. So I was thinking it was my chip. I take that out, no cels, but no vtec? So I’m wondering if a chipped ecu was unchipped would it turn back to stock or no? just a question cause I put the chipped ecu back in without the chip for two days now and I can’t even feel or hear vtec like I would with the stock p30. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. If it is not engaging without the chip, I was going to get/try out a different chip on the ecu.
So if I were to take a chip out of a vtec ecu, would it not have vtec anymore or what? That’s what I’m confused about…lmk
and if anyone is sure about my speedo...lmk...i swapped out the speed sensor twice..and nothing...so i purchased a gsr tranny to see if it is my tranny...
TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for your vss. after my last swap i tried all kinds of **** trying to fix it. later to find out that it was the plug, the pins inside of it were pushed to the side.
the ecu has nothing to do with your vss cell. 99.9 & 9/10 sure of that. To get the ecu back to stock cut J1, just above the chip.
If you want another chip to try IM me I have many.
I would say you definitly are having vss issues and nothing to do wiht the ecu. spin the gear on the VSS, make sure you can feel some kind of drag. check the plugs and wires. good luck.
