Default (cel) code 1..... why me!

ok i have a 00 hatch with a b16 in it. i ran the secondary 02 sensor to the ecu and i am using a test pipe with a o2 simulator(mechanical not the electronic one). once in a while i will get a cel (code 1). if i reset it, the cel will go away but come back on later. i know i did the wiring right. could the sensor be going bad? help please.
