Default The oil is so dirty on the Si

I noticed the oil on my Si gets dirty so fast. For example I just changed my oil only 500 miles ago and I use mobil 1 and a mobil 1 oil filter. The only thing I can think of is I get on it alot I mean I hit 8k 10 times a day. Anyone else notice this?

I've only changed mine once so far (with Honda oil, non syn) , and it seems to be squeaky clean still... Its bound to get somewhat dirty but it definantly shouldnt be looking like sludge

I have 8k miles on the car so far and it seems to eat some oil. The first oil change I did was at 4500 miles and went right to Mobil 1. I'm really not to worried but It makes hesitant to use the oil meter if I did, the oil would be totally black when I changed it. I didn't mention that I have ran the car at 2 autocross event's and I was very hard on the motor and I was even slamming the rev limiter on some parts of the course.

.....Hahah.... hah... ha... come on man... you expect someone who drives their car normally to have the same problem as you?

And no offense, but it sounds like you have no problem seriously beating your car. ...That may do it over a period of time, either that or it could very well be a large contributing factor.

I do beat the snot of this car. That's why I bought it all my previous Honda's were also beat on a daily basis.

91 CRX SI Full JDM ZC Swap Beat
92 Civic Si Sir 2 B16a Swap Beat
95 Civic Si Type R motor Beat
2000 LS Integra LS/Vtec Beat
95 RS Integra Another Sir 2 B16a Swap Beat

All the cars except the Crx were autoxed quite frequently. Point being I'm bought my honda cuz I know they can take beating. I'm just surprised the oil to be dirty at 500 miles as my b series motors were at 2500. No biggie I just wondering other SI owners noticed the same thing.

I'd be rethinking that if you think your oil is dirty now.

so since he is using a CAI his oil will get dirty? Wouldn't the whole combustion chamber with the spark plug get dirty as well?? How does this affect the engine and performance down the road?

The dirt is trapped by the oil, so "yes." Dirt is mostly abrasive, so think about what thousands of RPMs is doing with abrasive particles trapped in the lubricant of an engine, especially on the crank and cylinder walls.

I'm installing the CAI tomorrow, If it makes my oil dirtier fine. I'll just change the oil more often. If I can't drive this car hard I don't want it. lol

Have you guys seen these? Injen Black Water Repellant Pre-Filter.. I guess it's a prefilter that goes over the airfilter. Check this link for more info..

You are partially wrong. Changing your oil after running on the track is a good idea. But "the track" means a road racing track; not a drag strip and not an autocross course. And running for extended periods of time. That means running the car hard for 20+ minutes not 3 minutes like at an autocross after 3 runs or 90 seconds like at the dragstrip for 6 passes.

i highly reccomend amsoil!

ran it in my 01 gs-r and my 03 tacoma 4x4. both motors loved it! rev'd the **** out the b18c and my taco saw a lot of off road use.

run series2000 0w30

i know mobil 1 is factory fill in vettes, porsche etc...but my i didnt like my one experience with it. (slight oil consumption and seemed to discolor quicker) yet i hear oil color doesnt have a whole lot to do with how well or how bad the oil is breaking down. after switching to amsoil i will never run anything else in a new car again!

now my 90 LS teggy with 225K and my 92 4runner with 206K gets whatever dino oil is cheapest at the local auto store too many miles at the time of purchase to switch to synthetic

6bucks wouldnt hurt
if u said oil is black that means theres a bunch of carbon build up inside. You can also clean that with seafoam
