Throwing CEL 8. Change Distributor?
I've post before about my check engine light, finally jumped it and got a CEL 8. which is TDC. Top Dead Center Sensor. Does anyone have experience with this? I was searching around and the solutions are to replace the distributor. But is there something else i should diagnose before buying a brand new part from the dealer?
Specs:
41k mileage
stock R with a Comptech Ice box and a personalized Fuel cut off switch
recently replaced OEM fuel filter
changed mobil 1 fully synthenic oil w/ mobil 1 oil filter at 41k
Car has never died out but RPM can be as low as one bar above zero when put in netural after acceleration.
Please help...this is my DD

Chances are it is the distributor housing.
If you have a multimeter you can check the TDC sensor by unplugging the connector to the distributor and measuring the resistance between pins 3 and 7, 3 is green, and 7 is white/blue, should be between 0.5 and 1.0 kOhms.

I'd also open up the distributor cap and check the dang retaining screw for the rotor. Mine seems to come loose and grenade itself into the leak cover after about 35k miles or more.
I remember getting a code where it pointed to the distributor housing and that's what it was.
