Default Type r headers or comptech?

So I bought some comptech headers about a year ago for bout $250. Got them from a friend who had wrecked his car. Anyway a friend of mine has a type r and offered to trade me his type r headers plus $100 cash for my comptech so im deciding on it, I heard the type r headers r better if not the same as my comptech. What you guys think. P.S. I have an LS I just wanted some feedback from the type r guys.

Dude, you only need one header for an ITR or most 4cyl cars...

For $250... I can only imagine the USDM Comptech Header. If not, great deal, haha.

Are you running a catalytic converter/test pipe in the stock location? If not, it's the race header.

Race...

USDM Header...

Are the merge collectors for the primaries in the front of the engine or under?

Even in that case, I'd just hang onto the Comptech unit.

Well I believe the primaries are 1-1/2 x 1-5/8 and 1-3/4 on the secondaries, but please verify (measure the primary OD just before the step). A usdm DC 4-2-1 is 1-5/8 primaries and 1-3/4" secondaries. The OEM JDM ITR 4-1 has 1.69" OD primaries. I'd opt for the JDM ITR.

well either way it would be an upgrade from the header you have on your car now.

Would the larger primaries benefit the B18B though? I'm just curious since the LS has such a restrictive IM and smaller ports/valves than the B18C.

No. The B16A has a shorter deck height, the '94-'99 GS-R has a shorter overall length and no 02 bung, and various models have different flange angles where the collector bolts to the cat.
