Default Someone Hit My Freshly Painted Car

So i picked my car up from paint about 1 week ago and loved it. Well last night i went and picked my cousin up to go to the gym. When we got there i turned down a row to park and their were cars in front of me stopped. This guy in a truck had just parked and i had to stop behind him because of the people in front of me. Well then he desides hes not parked stait enough and starts to back out to straitin up. He backs up within inches of my passenger side fender and stops so i figured he saw me he sat for about 30 seconds then starts to back up again and nails my fender. I was so pissed because this is the first time the car has had paint since i owned it. But good news is today i went to insurance and got a fat 600 dollar check for a fender which i got a mint one for 50 and repaint on it for 100 and the rest is mine. I know theres not tech in this so delete if you want jus wanted to vent some frustration on stupid drivers.

my dad did this type of thing, got rearended by a neon when going to work in our subaru hatchback. lifted the rear wheels off the ground it hit so hard. totaled the neon and dented in the muffler tip and put two scratches in the rear bumber of my dads car. he got an $1800 check, got a 4 wheel alignment, and pocketed the rest. oh well he spent another $15 of that on a new fuel tank filler pipe since the old rusted out. I put it on for him and he gave me $20 for that. Not a bad insurance check by any means

I know the feeling....a couple of years ago I'd just gotten my car back after it had been in the bodyshop for a month (a lady at work backed into it in huge van). The bodyshop was backed up so it took them longer than expected. Anyway THE SAME DAY I picked it up from the shop I had some errands to run. I had to stop by the drycleaners to pick some clothes. I'm waiting in line the guy ahead me is a real dick to the cleaners complaining about some stains they put on his suit. I was standing right behind him and I couldn't see the "stains" this a hole was talking about. He grabs his suit, rushes out, flings his passenger door of Lexus SUV open, then speeds off burning rubber. Only later did I figure out why - the parking spaces are really small at this place when he flung of his Lexus SUV right into the freshly painted fender of my CRX making a massive door ding. This ***** was too busy, too important to hang around and pay for damage he caused to a cheap little car..........

I know the feeling, I had about 5 of my cars painted in the past, and let's say that 3 out of 5 has had a hit and run collison. So you got lucky that, it was paid for, but sorry to hear about it still.. spend the money wisely..

I'm pretty sure deductable only comes into play on the paying side of it. If you mess up ur own car or someone elses then you pay the deductable + extra, if someone hits you, you get whatever you get.

yeah you only pay a deductable if you hit someone and you want your car fixed.

Well in BC here we have to pay a deductible no matter what. My Civic was broken into a month ago and it was even recorded on camera and I still had to pay $300 deductible to get the door repaired and then they only gave me $100 for a new deck because I didnt have the receipt for the original. And no money for my 60 CDs stolen and no money for my radar detector. To say the least it was a **** *** christmas.

Thats different, when you get **** stolen thats your insurance paying for your ****, deductable. When someone hits you thats THEIR insurance paying for your ****, thus no deductable.

Unless you have a newer car of substantially greater resale value, their isn't any point in getting anything except liability and whatever else is legally required. If you have a car worth less than $5,000, the cost for any additional coverage just isn't worth much. If you are the cause of an accident and the value of your car is less than $5,000, you don't get much from the insurance company, because they only pay replacement value, irrespective of how much you might have put into your car, to make it nice. Keep your money.

yea the insurance guy said the only way they can cover after market anything is if you tell them that you put it on your car and ask for the extra coverage. He also told me like if you have a box with some subs in your car and its not bolted down and gets stolen its technicaly not part of your car cause it wasnt bolted in so they dont cover it.
