Default Hey Guys .....Quick....Check out this Type-R deal

I have a deal with a guy on a 98 Type-R. It has 128,000 miles on the body but a new motor, head, clutch with less than 500 miles on them. $16000 for this car...minus my 95 VTEC Lude trade-in. Think its a good deal? What kind of engine does a TYPE-R have?....thanks for any help

check this link, it'll be helpful http://itrca.com/faq/index.asp

considering that there is over a 100,000 miles on it...you better look at the suspesion and what exactly did he replace the other parts with. try carfax to see if the car has a clean title. the ITR has a B18C5 engine...just make sure it's a legit R first and then make a good inspection of the car iteself...g'luck man!!!

suspension parts are cheap. i wouldn't worry about them.. You can even find a stock suspension on these boards for less than 300.

thats not a good deal at all, there are several R's on autotrader right now for about 17500-18500 with only 40k, i think i would spend another 1500 dollars for a car with 100k less miles

Very bad deal. For a few thousand more, you can have one with 40k miles.

Makes no sense to me, new engine or no.

At the very least this car would probably require new shocks and bushings (and installing the latter would not be fun), followed by an alignment.

I would also worry about: pads, clutch/flywheel, bearings, boots, AC recharging, and a whole host of other things that are invariably necessary on a 100k+ mile car.

You would have to be loopy (IMHO).

Try $12k.

I think it is high. I paid $17,000 for an absolutely perfect 98 R with 34493 miles with no damage at all. Never wrecked and all original parts with VIN stickers.

I woudl offer $15,000 personally.

A friend of mine bought a 98 R with 34k miles for $16k, so there are great deals around, you just have to look

Good to hear that you're considering something else. That price seems extremely high!
