Default How many R's remain in North America

For USA. how many?
and then for CANADA how many?

cuz i want to know around how many remain

like in canda its like 97 = 500, 98 =750, 99=1000, 00 = 1000, 01= 1500
i believe those are the CANadian numbers
but i'm not 100% sure
but taht's under 5000 R's in like 5 years of production in canada
and i bet 500 of them are totalled or stolen or just busted already
so that will leave 4000 or so i believe

anyone have any idea

Half gone ... ya think!!! I would say 3000-3500, but thats a total shot in the dark. You would have to take a sample pool. Take everyone who has or has had a R on this board. Find the % of lost/stolen/totaled, and run that % with the production numbers. Thats really the only logical way to find a number thats anywhere close to reality. IMO of course.

EDIT: the dmv would know, right?

correct me if i'm wrong....

97 = 500
98 = 1500
00 = 1500
01 = 1500

total = 5000

I don't think Canada had that many. I also think the US and Canadian numbers are from the same pool (at least for 98) -- ie, there isn't both a #500 US and #500 Can, but rather US and Canada both came out of 1-1300. I'd heard about 1000 US in 1998, and about 300 Can. Back in 98 I called Honda to try to get an exact number, but they claimed they didn't have one. They just said it was still supposed to be about 1000. I think that might have been where I learned the US and Can were from the same numbers. The Honda rep also noted that the ones that were crash tested would have also been numbered but not counted in the allocation. [I had called to find out if there were more than 1000, since my number is over 1000, and both those things could explain the higher number.]

I've also heard for US, about 500 97, 1500 00, and 1500 for 01.

I would guess around 3500-4000 are left.

You have to take into consideration there were 1500 yellow, 1500 black in 2001, not 1500 total, but there's this one guy on here with #1825 or something like that, so who really knows...

Well, I'm predicting that the ITR will go the way of the DoDo Bird w/in the next 5 years if the theft rate remains the same.

Unfortunately theivery 0wnz the ITR

Hmm, I've never heard that (3000 total), nor have I seen a number that high. I seriously doubt the numbers are paint specific -- ie, there's no #500 PY and #500 FPB, just one set of numbers for each year. #1825 makes sense if US and Canadian cars come from the same numbers: 1500 US plus a few hundred Can would give numbers that high.

Why would they have to crash test ITR's, wouldn't they be pretty much the same as other Integras?

not really... the rear sheetmetal is thicker and chassis is more rigid. Still doesnt seem to be reason enough to waste any!

I asked my Acura dealer this when I bought my R. This is what they told me, take it for what it's worth. Numbers include BOTH Canada and USA.

97: 750
98: 1000
99: 500 (Canada only)
00: 2000
01: 2000

I'm sure they crash test however many the US government makes them crash test. I think they are required to crash each model variant (2-dr, 4-dr, LS, GSR, R). This is one of the reasons that automakers often hesitate to sell low-volume models here (like, say, the Civic R).

Are you (they) saying 750 total in 97, or 1500 total?

Given there are 10 times as many potential car buyers in the US (even if not potential R buyers...), I would not expect the Canadian numbers to be as high. On the other hand, Canada did get more color choices, and they did get them in 99.

Seems pretty accurate. Here's what I believe for the US only.
97: 750
98: ~1000 not sure.
00: 1500
01: 1500

Well, http://www.itrca.com/ has 142 PY 2001 registered -- somehow I doubt they've got almost everyone! [also 101 2001 black, and a handful of others that aren't US]. Highest number for 2001 is 1605, after that are several in the 1200s.

My VIN# is 3 less then number on my plate so what does that meen,
I don't think there is any connection between the VIN and the other number.

They said thoser were the numbers for the total of US and Canada. So in 97 something like 500 for the US and 250 for Canada etc.

In that case, they seem reasonable except for 98 -- I think there were more than 1000 total, based on the plate numbers I've seen (mine is 1003, and I've seen lots in the 1100s, and itrca has registered numbers fairly evenly from the 00s to the 1100s) and that Honda told me around 1000 for the US alone.

There are a lot of lost Itrs out there that were probably 'talked' into buying the R from the dealership instead of knowing what it was. I know of a few R owners that dont even have internet access and have no idea of the theft rate, good info, and good buys you can get on some web sites.

Naturally -- I mean, look how many people are active on this board (a lot), but whenever someone asks for a roll call there are perhaps 300-500 total ITR owners. That's only 10% of the total owners. ITRCA has 791 total (some not from NA).

I do think there's an unusually good percentage here, but it's still a considerable minority.

I wonder how many have been converted to race cars. Real Time alone must have used quite a few over the years.
