how to tell a Vtec head without a valve cover?
Ok my question is when you buyin the head of the engine and it vtec how can you tell without the valve cover?
Cuz wonderin due to my neighbor is doin his head swap on his f22b1 for a vtec head on the accord, now theirs people that will sell them but theirs no valve cover so how can you tell the differece between the two?

A VTEC head will have 3 rockers for 2 intake valves. Non-VTEC only has one rocker for each valve.
This is my f23. Intake is on the far side. Notice the fat rocker inbetween the two skinnier ones (for each cylinder).

Ok i hope i dont run my mouth where it doesnt belong but if you look for the vtec sensore it will have to have one unless vtec is wired into a throttle position switch or somehting like that. The vtec sensor is at the back left corner of the head its about the size of a film canistor. it has two wires coming form the bottom of it and it bolts to the back of the head. Hope that makes sense.
02 accord is right - check the rocker assembly.

this is very confusing, but I finally figured out what you mean - yep the vtec head will also have a vtec sensor (or holes for one) at the back by the dizzy mounting hole.
